The event runs from Friday, October 27 to Sunday, October 29.
Big River Entertainment owner and festival host Roz Giles is looking forward to the 2023 event.
“We launched in 2017, that’s Big River Entertainment, we launched it as part of our awareness of rural towns’ festivals,” Roz said.
“We did ’17, ’18 and ’19, and then it was cancelled due to COVID in ’20 and ’21 and cancelled due to the floods in ’22.
“We run a lot of events, and we do a lot in the music industry.
“And we were starting to see that a lot of the festivals were going to the bigger towns, and we were wanting to get the awareness back on the smaller towns because they have so much to offer.
“They are always friendly, and there is always a good vibe in the smaller towns.
“We just saw it as a way of bringing money and awareness into the towns.”
The venue, Lockington Community Centre, boasts a great dance floor, plenty of seating, ample parking and an area nearby for self-contained RVs and campers.
The venue is wheelchair accessible, and food and refreshments will be on offer the entire weekend.
On Friday night, the focus will be on dancing. Throughout Saturday and Sunday, the full range of artists will be playing, with a collective gospel choir on Sunday at 10.30am.
On Sunday afternoon, there will be a wind-down barbecue, where visitors can mingle with the artists.
The music will mainly be country with a bit of 1950s and ’60s rock and roll.
“We put on a variety of artists so that people get to hear a lot of different music,” Roz said.
“Most of these artists, people will know their names.
“The artists, they love Lockington, it has got a really good vibe about it.
“On Friday night, if people just want to come and sit and listen, that’s fine, the chairs are all set up, but they probably play a lot more music to dance to that night.”
Artists on the bill include Craig Giles, Kinta, Wayne Horsburgh, Grant Luhrs, Kerran Keats, Jamie Nielson, Rupe Adams, Ray Macartney, Craig Lloyd, Dale Jones, The Night Owls, Barb Fowler, Colin Ovens, Michael Hocking, Graham Baird, James Moore, Hillary and many more.
The Lockington Country Music Festival is a no-alcohol event, with tickets cash-only at the door or by contacting Roz Giles through the website www.lockingtoncmf.com
