NSW Rural Fire Service has declared a total fire ban for the Mid Murray Zone for Wednesday, November 26, due to forecast hot, dry and windy conditions that will significantly increase the risk of bush and grass fires.
The Mid Murray Zone incorporates the local government areas of Murray River, Edward River and Murrumbidgee.
The fire danger rating for the region is expected to reach extreme.
The ban means no fires may be lit in the open, and all fire permits are automatically suspended for the duration of the ban. These conditions can cause fires to start easily and spread rapidly, posing a serious threat to life, property and the environment.
NSW RFS Mid Murray Zone encourages all residents, landholders and visitors to take the forecast conditions seriously and prepare accordingly.
The NSW RFS urges the community to:
- Review their bushfire survival plans
- Stay informed through local updates and official channels
- Report any unattended or out-of-control fires immediately to 000
