RFS operational officer Col Munro said one was a truck fire near Moulamein on Sunday afternoon.
“The fire started at Balpool Rd, basically in front of the West Windouran fire station, about 5.30pm on Sunday.
“There were two trucks from West Windouran and two trucks from Moulamein.
“It started as a mechanical fault of some sort and was put out pretty quickly.
“The driver had done a good job to disconnect the trailers and park in a safe place so it wasn’t going to start a small grass fire.”
Mr Munro said RFS Mid Murray Zone wanted to congratulate and thank farmers for their efforts and for adhering to harvest safety alerts from RFS, with no harvest fires in Mid Murray during the alert period.
Mid Murray firefighters were required to provide assistance in a neighbouring RFS zone however, with a large crop fire at Oaklands igniting twice.
A header fire started at Maxwelton Rd fire at Oaklands Thursday last week, and managed by the Southern Border RFS in the Federation Zone.
In poor weather conditions, it reignited on Saturday.
Five trucks and a group officer from the Mid Murray Zone provided support to help contain the fire, which claimed around 4000 acres of land and got within 4km of the Oaklands township.
Mid Murray Zone RFS also aided efforts with fire bomber aircraft stationed at Deniliquin being used in Oaklands on the Thursday.
The airbase in Deniliquin was also used as a refuelling location for multiple aircraft to help contain the fire’s reignition last Saturday.
The Maxwelton Rd fire has now been contained, is being patrolled by the Southern Border RFS.
