Federal Member for Nicolls Sam Birrell welcomes the $11.3 million grant for the redevelopment of Victoria Park.
Campaspe Shire Council has secured $11,356,067 from the Federal Government, the largest grant in its history, to refurbish the site.
The project includes an updated grandstand and change rooms, as well as a new community, events and emergency relief centre.
Mr Birrell said the funding will provide a new space that many community members will benefit from.
“This project will redevelop the Victoria Park complex into a new multipurpose community centre for a range of groups who use the facility,” Mr Birrell said.
“The facility will also double in times of disaster and transfer into an emergency relief centre.”
The funding was secured through the Federal Government’s Growing Regions Program, a scheme to support regional and rural community’s economic development.
This program will also deliver $15 million towards the Seymour Community Wellbeing Hub, which will offer comprehensive health and mental health support for up to 10,000 people.
Mr Birrell is looking forward to seeing both projects through.
