A Victorian or NSW school or community group will receive a free 1.5m by 3m mural from artist and primary school teacher Zowie Crump through a social media competition ending July 10.
“My art is bright and colourful,” Zowie said, who has completed more than 15 murals and works as a creative arts teacher three days a week.
The Art of Zowie is running the competition on Facebook and Instagram, where participants must tag their chosen school or community group and two friends, like and share the post, and follow the pages.
“I usually work with schools to either come up with a design for a theme that they are going with, or I get the kids to draw and then I construct a mural out of designs that are their drawings,” Zowie said.
“I just wanted to give back to the community, communities are a big area, a bit of advertising and (to) document the process as well, what is involved.
“Just (to) promote to many different schools that may not be aware of what I do, and then go on a bit of an adventure.”
The competition has already attracted about 400 comments, with entries from various locations including Wollongong, Melbourne and the local district.
“It could be an adventure, that is the bit I like about it, that it could be something different,” Zowie said.
“People often say that my art makes them smile and makes them happy, and I really enjoy doing that.”
The winner will be drawn on Thursday, July 10 at 8pm.
