For just $10, participants can enjoy a gentle two-kilometre walk, a sausage sizzle, a fun raffle, and plenty of time to catch up.
The walk will be held on Sunday, March 22, starting at 11 am from the Yarrawonga Yacht Club.
Funds raised through the Two for Ten Walk support research coordinated through the National Stem Cell Foundation of Australia, helping turn discoveries into real-world treatments.
Cord blood is collected from the umbilical cord after a baby’s birth and contains powerful stem cells that help form the blood and immune systems.
These cells are used worldwide to treat almost 80 life-threatening diseases.
For many patients, particularly children, cord blood can mean the difference between having a treatment option and having none.
Unlike bone marrow, cord blood is often easier to match and carries a lower risk of rejection.
Research into cord blood continues, with hundreds of clinical trials exploring how stem cells may help treat conditions once thought untreatable, including cerebral palsy, Leukaemia, stroke recovery, autism spectrum disorder, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, spinal cord injuries, heart disease and immune disorders.
In a landmark moment for Australia, 2025 saw the first child with cerebral palsy receive treatment using their own stored cord blood.
Anyone who would like to help but is not able to join the walk can still contribute through donations or sponsorship, knowing your support helps families facing devastating diagnoses.
The Inner Wheel Club of Yarrawonga Mulwala is part of Inner Wheel, one of the world’s largest women’s service organisations.
Founded on principles of friendship, service, and international understanding, Inner Wheel encourages women to work together to support their communities and promote humanitarian projects.
The Yarrawonga Mulwala club welcomes women and girls interested in joining, with meetings held at the Yarrawonga Golf Club on the first Thursday of each month at 10 am.
