Walk of the people attracts thousands

Making a noise: Echuca’s Federal Band was at the front of the hundreds of people who charged through the gates once the Walk of the People started from the Victorian side of the bridge.
Marching to their own tune: Kevin Kiely, Moama Anglian Grammar’s drumline leader and brass/percussionist tutor, leads his students — and the community — onto the bridge. Members of the brand were Toby Chivers, Kaitlin Weiser, Josephine Colacino, Ella Bowler, Rebecca Douglas, Laura Kadri and Zena Colacino.
Pounding the pavement: Murray River Council Mayor Chris Bilkey with Member for Farrer Sussan Ley and a member of the Transport for New South Wales organisation. There was a welcome to country and smoking ceremony on both sides of the bridge.
Walking with the people: Retiring Nationals Member for Nicholls Damian Drum took his place in the Echuca-Moama bridge’s Walk of the People alongside voters, who will not see his name on the ballot on May 21. Photo by Josh Huntly
Sail past: Lou Iannacone’s idea for a sail past beneath the bridge at the community event gained significant late momentum and paddle boats, steams and barges were all involved in the flotilla. Photo: Bransen Gibson
Bridge cruise: Adam Auditori and Angela Mead at the wheel of The Amphibious, which was one of several involved in the Lou Iannacone inspired sail past.
Proud Aussies: Norm and Joan Visca were on the water for the community event. The pair have more than 50 years of history in the region.
