A StoryWalk is an initiative started by Anne Ferguson where pages from a children’s book are displayed along an outdoor trail, encouraging families to be active and read.
Currently, Aunty Fay Muir and Sue Lawson’s book Country, which featured during Reconciliation Week celebrations, is on display at Atkinson Park in Kerang.
Council chief executive Geoff Rollinson said the walk had continued to grow in popularity since its introduction to the region.
“Seeing Aunty Lil Murray read Country during our National Reconciliation Week celebrations was a highlight of the morning’s program,” he said.
“Council looks forward to sharing this beautiful story further with our community.”

The book highlights the importance of Country to First Nations culture, and features illustrations by Cheryl Davison.
A copy of Country was also sent to participating primary schools across Gannawarra Shire as part of Shared Story Time during Reconciliation Week.
Staff and children at Leitchville Preschool said they loved the book, especially its artwork and the discussions it fostered around caring for nature.
“Council is pleased to see so many of our schools embrace the themes of National Reconciliation Week, highlighting the role we all play in fostering stronger relationships with First Nations peoples,” Mr Rollinson said.
The StoryWalk will be available at Garden Park in Cohuna from Tuesday, July 1 to Thursday, July 24 as part of NAIDOC Week.
