But that might come as a surprise to some, given the send off winter left us with.
A storm front built up over Thursday, and delivered heavy rain, strong wind and even hail across the region through to Saturday.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology’s weather station at Deniliquin airport, up to 2.8mm of rain was sent down in the 24 hours to 9am Saturday.
Wind gusts of about 89km/h were recorded about 5pm Friday, and wind speeds of 54km/h.
But better weather is around the corner.
It’s a good time to get spring spring cleaning done, and get prepared for the warmer weather.
And don’t forget about Father’s Day this Sunday.
Pot of gold under the courts
The poor weather did wreak some havoc with tree limbs felled and trampolines trying to fly away, but it did create some stunning photo opportunities.
A rainbow emerged on Thursday evening, right above where the Deni Rovers netballers were training hard for finals.
Chloe Way managed to get some great shots.
It not only shows the beauty after the rain, but the dedication of the netballers to work hard on the court despite the conditions.
Teams reach September
Deniliquin and district football and netball teams have reached the pinnacle month in their respective sports.
Deniliquin Rams Football & Netball Club hosted the Murray League elimination finals on Sunday.
The under-17s netball side are through, as are the thirds footballers.
The fourths footballers will play their first game of the finals series this Saturday, with a chance to get into the preliminary finals.
The Blighty Football & Netball Club are also represented by the under-13s making a preliminary final this weekend.
Unfortunately Mathoura’s finals hope the under-15s netballers have been eliminated from finals going down by only 5 goals to Tocumwal on Sunday.
Deni Rovers teams had wins across the weekend meaning every team is in a preliminary final with a chance to play in a home grand final.
Match reports are in today’s PT sport.
