Now the main span of the new bridge is built, the construction crew will begin installing concrete barriers, signage and handrails on the bridge.
In November, work will begin on the new shared walking and cycling path and installing street lighting in Moama.
Stage four of the bridge project involves intersection upgrades with new traffic lights on the Cobb Hwy, Meninya St and Perricoota Rd intersections, being delivered by Transport for NSW.
With 25,000 vehicles using the existing Echuca-Moama bridge each day, it’s expected the second crossing will remove around 40 per cent of traffic — the equivalent of about 10,000 vehicles each day.
“The Echuca-Moama Bridge will become a vital link between Victoria and NSW, delivering significant freight, tourism and economic benefits for the community,” Victorian Transport Infrastructure Minister Jacinta Allan said.
“The bridge will connect the cross-border towns of Echuca and Moama, giving communities a safe and reliable crossing they can use every day.”
Free riverboat tours of the bridge project are set to begin this Saturday, October 30, with community members and visitors invited to step aboard the MV Mary Ann to get up close and personal and learn how it is being built.
