The Yarrawonga Mulwala Artist Association ran its second junior art exhibition at The Gallery, with the winners announced at last week’s grand opening and awards ceremony.

More than 40 artworks were created by children from primary schools across Yarrawonga and Mulwala with their paintings on display until Saturday, July 12.

Families and art lovers gathered to celebrate the region’s young talented artists, who all received a participation certificate in recognition of their efforts.

YMAA president Janet Tett said this year’s theme was for entrants to express themselves within the artworks they created.

“This helps parents and teachers see where the children are at with their feelings,” Janet said.

The president was joined by Deb Pejkovic, who had the task of choosing two awards across four age categories.

Janet said the event's purpose was to encourage young people across the region to get creative.

“The kids love entering, and love the opening show,” Janet said.

“The competition is a feel-good thing for the kids and hopefully is an incentive for them to get more artistic and creative.”

YMAA thanked sponsors Yarrawonga News and Gifts, Yarrawonga Bunnings, the YMAA, and Janet for their efforts in making the exhibition possible.

Visit the Gallery to see the amazing artwork produced by young artists and cast a vote for the people’s choice, artwork award.

The winner of the award will be announced on Friday July 18 and will receive a $100 voucher.

The Gallery is open from 10am until 3pm, Wednesday to Monday.

Congratulations to all the participants, the art club looks forward to seeing future entries in the next Junior Art Competition.
