Applications are open from young people aged 12 – 25 years who live, work or study in any town within the Federation Council area and who are passionate about advocating for issues that affect them.
Nine young people from across the Federation Council area will be recruited for a one-year term to advise the council, define priority areas, and implement projects and events.
Mayor Cheryl Cook said the Youth Council was the official ‘youth voice’ of Federation, and played a vital role in helping council understand what issues were important to local young people.
“This is a great opportunity for young people to gain a range of new skills and develop their leadership capabilities, all while helping to improve outcomes for youth in their communities,” Cr Cook said.
“Every young person can bring value to the Youth Council, I encourage everyone aged between 12 and 25 years to visit the Council website to find out more about how to apply.”
The Federation Youth Council meets once a month, engaging with guest speakers from within council and external or¬ganisations and also manages their own self-guided community projects, events and activities.
Applications are open until 5pm, Friday 12 September, 2025 and can be completed online.
