After the busy year that we all seem to have had, Christmas has crept up on us again before we could take stock of the significance of the season.
The Advent season introduces us to Jesus through four special themes: hope, peace, joy and love.
Each of these themes is personified in Jesus, who was born to save the world from the curse of sin and death.
God’s rescue plan was His gracious response to humanity’s rebellion, and churches this Christmas will be presenting messages of the promised Messiah, born in humble circumstances, who came to fix the mess that resulted.
This year, the Echuca-Moama Minister’s Association is pleased to be hosting a group of university students from Adelaide who will be spending time in our community, singing carols, visiting aged care facilities and helping the churches to celebrate the coming of Christ at the first Christmas.
Why not say hello when you see them?
Having achieved salvation through His death and resurrection, Jesus took His rightful place as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
He is the foundation of our faith and basis of our lives.
Christians believe that Jesus is ‘The Rock’ of our salvation.
Rock has always been regarded as a sturdy base on which to build. It can weather all kinds of storms and floods without giving way.
Building our lives on ‘The Rock’ brings stability in our lives, not that storms won’t come but that we will have a firm foundation on which to tackle life’s inevitable curve-balls.

Advent hope, for Christians, is grounded in the expectation that Jesus will return to gather up His people and establish His New Kingdom.
One in which the Bible tells us, there will be no more crying, grief or pain.
This Christmas, why not consider attending one of Echuca-Moama’s churches for their Christmas services.
Many have options ranging from Christmas Eve to Christmas Day and the Sundays before and after.
See the list of service times in future editions of the Riverine Herald.
In the meantime, please take time to thank God for the many blessings we enjoy in this wonderful country, for the safety we enjoy and the freedom we have to visit those who are dear to us. It’s also a good time to remember those who are grieving the loss of loved ones.
On behalf of the pastors of Echuca-Moama, I thank you for reading our weekly thoughts in ‘Crossroads’ and look forward to welcoming you in our churches, just as you are, because Jesus gives us peace for today and hope for tomorrow.
