Media were ushered out of AAMI Park immediately after Bellamy's press conference, unable to use the run to see whether the Storm would start as per program on Friday.
But their ball machine, which Bellamy dubbed "Matt Burton" back in 2023, was front and centre as the home side prepared for the aerial threat of the Bulldogs' super boot.
With fullback options including diminutive rookie Sua Fa'alago, Melbourne are readying for the full Burton repertoire that includes towering bombs with plenty of spin, with the machine version sending the ball skyward.
Asked how they can contain the five-eighth's kicking game, Bellamy said they couldn't.
"You don't really, you just gotta catch them - we ain't gonna be able to stop him kicking them.
"Unfortunately, you know, they don't turn the 10 metres into two metres in the semi-finals, so we're not going to be able to get at him.
"It's just up to our back three to catch them."
The Storm welcome back skipper Harry Grant, who sat out their last two matches through suspension, as they bid to advance directly into a preliminary final which will also be played in Melbourne.
Conceding a whopping 70 points over the final two rounds, Bellamy admitted they had missed the scheming star hooker.
"I thought the players did a good job but Harry is a State of Origin player, an Australian player and he's our captain, so I think you can realise how important he is to our team," the veteran coach said.
"He will be a welcome addition."
Melbourne are again missing first-choice halfback Jahrome Hughes, who broke his wrist on his return from a shoulder injury last round.
Despite undergoing surgery the Dally M Medallist believed he was still  a strong chance to take part in the Storm's finals campaign should they continue to advance.
"I'm hopefully a chance (of playing) in the next two weeks, maybe," Hughes said on the 167 Podcast which he hosts along with Cameron Munster and Ryan Papenhuyzen.
