Motorcycling Victoria will be required to prepare a business case for future enhancement and expansion of the complex. The business case will require MV to undertake an independent noise assessment to establish a publicly available noise management plan for any potential expansion.
MV’s vision is for Broadford SMSC to become the recognised home of motor sports in Victoria, as well as a standout national facility, achieved by a range of expansion opportunities explored in The Broadford State Motorcycle Sports Complex Expansion Feasibility Study.
The study went before council in March following extensive community consultation in October 2019. Before any expansion can take place, planning approval must be obtained.
The study was funded by council, MV and the Victorian Government.
Mitchell Shire Mayor David Lowe said BSMSC had a strong reputation in the motorcycling industry.
“The upgrades envisaged within this feasibility study will only serve as a catalyst to attract a variety of users as well as open business potential in the Broadford area,” he said.
“Through the Broadford Structure Plan and projects like these, our hope is Broadford will become a business and tourist hot spot for many years to come.
“We look forward to our continued partnership with Motorcycling Victoria and the Victorian Government in supporting growth in our shire.”
