Teams will be able to train in groups of 10 not including the team’s coach or the minimum number of support staff — and will be strictly non-contact.
Grounds can be divided into two zones which allow up to 20 players to train at once.In an update to its Facebook account on Saturday afternoon, AFL Goulburn Murray provided its affiliates with a statement.
“Part of those protocols will be an endorsement to return to club-sanctioned training from Monday, May 25,” the statement said.
“This timing will provide the opportunity to communicate our protocols with leagues and allow volunteers and clubs time to digest the protocols.
“We ask all clubs that they continue to suspend training until Monday, May 25.”
The region’s governing body also said it would hope to provide further details early in the week.
As part of AFL Victoria’s return to play plan, there is a ‘‘requirement of each club to appoint a COVID Safety Officer that is responsible for ensuring these protocols are adhered to and participants can return to a prepared and safe environment’’.
The statement continued: ‘‘We will continue to work with the state government to ensure alignment with their advice, and in the event of further easing of restrictions, we hope to be able to return to full training and competition later in the year, with hygiene and safety protocols firmly in place.
‘‘Our primary focus is preparing to return to train in a safe environment in a well prepared and educated manner. In order for this return to play to be successful, and in line with government advice, it is essential that clubs and individuals work within the timelines and protocols and do not move ahead of the level and restrictions in place.’’
AFL Victoria transfers re-opened on Friday and will close on June 30.
¦ NETBALL Victoria released its own return to play process on Monday.
Under the plan, teams will be able to train outdoors from Thursday while adhering to appropriate physical distancing regulations.
‘‘Netball Victoria affiliates and clubs are required to adhere to the Return to Community Netball guidelines, to assist teams in returning to training in a manner that prioritises the health and wellbeing of both the individuals involved in the session, as well as the wider community,’’ a statement from the state’s governing body said.
‘‘Of course, any return to training should be optional and entirely at the discretion of the individual.
‘‘In addition to this, participants should not return to netball if in the last 14 days they have been unwell or have had close contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19.’’
Netball Victoria has also created several documents which are available online to helps clubs and associations with their return to training program.
