Jack Hewitt stunned everyone, including himself, when he destroyed the course to win the stroke event on Thursday.
Steve Presser finally found some form and Barry Callanan won a close battle in C grade. The in-form Neville Speight won the super-pin.

Saturday, May 15
The lesser known Eacott at Rich River claimed the A grade victory in wintry conditions on Saturday. Travis Lewis took B grade and Ian Young showed everyone that at least one member of the family is playing some decent golf.
One can only wonder and rejoice at the same time that Steve Presser took until May to win his first super-pin of the year.

Sunday, May 16
Visitors from Murray Downs, Numurkah, Euroa and The National GC boosted numbers in the stableford medley event on the east course where captain Dave Pearson eagled the first.
Xavier Clark was the overall winner with 40 points and Mackenzie Capp took second with 39 on a countback to Russell Hampson. The countdown went to 35.
Monday, May 17
9-holes: The women played a four-ball on the front nine west on Monday with Diane Watson and Lee Boulton combined well to take the win with 23 points.
1st Diane Watson and Lee Boulton (23); 2nd Kerry McLoughlan and Jennifer Halloran (22); 3rd Vicki Riddington and Carolyn Smith (21).
Nearest the pin in A grade was Christine Ross and Jill Flanagan scored with her second shot in B grade.
18-hole medley: The medley event was also a four-ball on the west with scores pretty close.
1st Elizabeth Connick and Julie Rowbottom (44); 2nd Jack Hewitt and Michael Lizza (43); 3rd Richard Feuk and Steven Malley (42).
Michael Lizza's tee shot on the 16th also won him nearest the pin.
Tuesday, May 18
There were some great scores in the 4BBB Par event with Allan McKinlay and John Headberry combining beautifully to edge out Keith Jones, Gordon Jasch, Ian Baylis and Terry Cargill. Les Thomas won the super-pin.

Wednesday, May 19
The fine autumn weather held up once again for the women's par round on the west course.
Heather Berryman in B grade had the overall best score of the day with four which was equalled in C grade by Georgina Roberts.
A grade: 1st Debbie Morden ( 3); 2nd Dale Haw ( 2); 3rd Gloria Bennett (square).
B grade: 1st Heather Berryman ( 4); 2nd Fran Galvin ( 2); 3rd Maxine Aitken ( 1).
C grade: 1st Gerogina Roberts ( 4); 2nd Deborah Quittner ( 1); 3rd Liz Pollard (square).
Nearest the pins on the 4th was Dianne Stewart (A grade), Marie Collins (B) and Trish Williams (C).
Dianne Stewart also scored with her second shot in the hole on the eighth and Dale Haw went home happy with her super-pin win.
Echuca Back Nine
Members played a stroke round on Friday, May 14 in ideal conditions, although playing numbers were down. The results were:
Men's A grade: 1st Eric Qualmann (31 nett); 2nd Norm Hodge (38 on countback).
Women's A grade: 1st Lorna Alchin (40); Pam Spokes (42 on countback).
Men's B grade: 1st Tony Maynard (30 on countback); 2nd Laurie Edwards (40).
Men's nearest the pin: 6th Eric Qualmann.
Women's nearest the pin: 4th Lorna Alchin.
Straightest drive: Men: Neville Vicary; women: Dulcie Van Der Drift.
Lockington
The women had their best turnout for the season so far for Wednesday’s Lorna Henderson Canadian Trophy event.
In a close finish, the winners were Helen Hayes and Pauline Humbert with 99-28-71, just half a shot from runners-up Jan Clymo and Sherryl Jones on 97-25.5-71.5.
Best scratch score was returned by Jan Clymo and Sherryl Jones (97). Nearest the pins went to Annette Brereton (A grade) and Helen Hayes (B).
Cooler and windy weather made for challenging conditions during Saturday’s stroke round. The monthly medal for best on course was won by Ron Dixon (89-21-68) on a countback from Andrew Harris (81-13-68). Dixon also won B grade, with Jeff Carnie (87-17-70) runner-up.
First up from a spell, Andrew Harris romped home in A grade ahead of Kevin Humbert (82-11-71) and Grant Humbert (74-3-71).
JD Wright (96-23-73) was the clear-cut winner in C grade, with Tom Scurrah runner-up. Best scratch scores went to Grant Humbert (A grade; 74), Jeff Carnie (B; 87) and JD Wright (C; 96).
Nearest the pins went to Steve Holt (3rd), Andy Freemantle (2nd shot 11th) and Grant Humbert (2nd shot 18th for the six-pack smack). Mat Dennis had an eagle with 2nd shot on 12th.
Spike’s Longest Drive on the 6th, sponsored by Hot ‘n’ Cold Plumbing, went to Brett Stone (A grade), Ian Maddison (B) and JD Wright (C).
The Echuca CIH eagles nest on the 3rd wasn’t won, and neither was Captain Bricka’s yardstick on the 16th which jackpots to $154.

Lockington golfers travelled to Pyramid Hill on Sunday to compete against other district clubs in the annual Kelly Shield.
The ladies’ team of Phyll Macfarlane, Helen Hayes and Jan Clymo were successful in winning the shield in what was a terrific effort.
The men’s team of Mark Lyons, Ray Brereton, Jeff Carnie, Kevin Humbert, Ian Maddison and Trav Mancer finished a brave second, beaten only by five shots by the home club.
Golfers are warmly invited to Lockington's annual tournament which starts this week.

Bamawm
Well done to the team of six men who headed to Pyramid Hill to compete in the Kelly Shield on Sunday. From all accounts they had a great day and Pyramid Hill did a great job of hosting this year’s competition.
Back in Bamawm there were 21 players competing in a stableford competition.
Winner of the ladies competition was Kim Dingwall with Nikita Frawley runner-up.
Winner of the men’s competition was Russell Tatt with 39 points, while the runner-up was Neville Vicary on 38 points on a countback from Matt Bell.
Nearest the pin winners with Todd Louttit (7/16), David Winchcomb (8/17) and Todd Louttit (4/13).
The longest drive went to Matt Bell.
This week will be a stableford competition with hit off from 11am. Everyone is welcome.
Elmore
Sunday was the annual and enjoyable event - the Elmore v Raywood challenge day.
Winners on the day for Raywood with a great score of 50 points was Lyn Delaney while the runner-up was Melissa Zysvelt with 41.
Elmore's ladies winner was Joy Rasmussen on 36 points on a countback from Sherryn Pederson with 36.
Raywood's men’s winner was Denis Demeo with 31 points, while the runner-up on countback was Shaun Powell on 31 with the next best Ricky Thompson.
Elmore's Harry Grogan blitzed the course with a great 45 points followed by Tyler Oliver with 44, while Tom Carboon had a great score of 38.
Elmore won the day with an average of 35.65 from Raywood's average of 29.69.
Nearest the pins went to Jenny Penny (6th), Lyn Delaney (4th), Jeff Trewick (15th in three), and Greg Holmberg (10th). Tyler Oliver won the super-pin while Mark Bamford had a wonderful eagle on nine.
A great day was enjoyed by all, finishing at the 19th with enjoyable warm food and friendship.
This Sunday is stroke, the monthly medal and second round of Rochester Tyres and Privilege Cup.
Tuesday’s Chicken Run 4BBB Par winners were Sam McLeod and Jeff Trewick with two on countback from Max Williams and Alan Campbell. Nearest the pin on the 6th in two shots was Greg Holmberg.
The ladies played a fun day-secret multiplier. Winners were Denise Pappin and Petrica Bamford on 39 points. Runners-up were Joy Rasmussen and Sherryn Pederson on 32. This week is par and novelties playing for a meat tray.

The Elmore tournament is coming up on Thursday, June 17. A ladies and men's 4BBB stableford will be played on Friday, June 18, while the mixed pinehurst is on Saturday, June 19. The men’s 36-hole Stroke is scheduled for Sunday, June 20.
