Echuca 2 got the better of Echuca 3 in an entertaining clash at Echuca Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday, winning 8-81 to 5-67.

Matthew Rosendale and Silas Kingma got Echuca 3 off to a good start, each claiming singles wins 6-3 to give the lower-ranked side an early advantage.
Echuca 3 also dominated the men’s doubles match-ups, with Kingma (8-6) and Joshua Hunter (8-5) each steering wins in their respective matches, before Daryl Poole and Ryan More got Echuca 2 on the board with an 8-4 win over the Rosendale and Hunter pairing.
Echuca 2 won all four women’s doubles match-ups, as Madeline O’Nial first combined with Lucy Higgins to win 8-2, before partnering Judy Poole to a win by the same margin.
Poole also tasted success alongside Tanya Godfrey, claiming an 8-6 win, before Godfrey and Higgins claimed the remaining women’s doubles matchup 8-5.
Kate and Joshua Hunter secured a big 8-0 win in the mixed doubles for Echuca 3, however it was their last win for the day, as Echuca 2 romped home to take the overall win.
Echuca 2 will look to keep the momentum going when it faces Rich River 1 at home in round eight, while Echuca 3 will travel to face LBU 1.
Echuca 1 has earned a 9-83 to 4-62 win over Rich River away from home at the weekend to remain unbeaten through seven rounds, although the result is not yet final.

The reigning premier got the clash under way with a 6-2 win to Matthew Rosendale in the opening singles match, before Hudson Jasper hit back with a 6-2 win for Rich River over Shane Coatsworth.
Rosendale and Stephen Hope claimed an 8-7 win for Echuca to open the men’s doubles matches, before Coatsworth and Roger Carmody recorded a win with the exact same score over the Rich River pair of Jasper and Steve Rawlings.

Rawlings and Josh Boyd handed Rich River its second set with an 8-3 success over Hope and Carmody to wrap up the men’s doubles.

Leanne More and Roxanne Dicketts earned a big 8-1 win for Echuca in the first of the women’s doubles matches, as Tanya Godfrey and Vicki Bavich consolidated with an 8-0 win of their own.
More and Godfrey then combined for an 8-4 win, before Dicketts and Bavich wrapped up the final women’s doubles set 8-3 to put Echuca in a commanding position.

The two sides would split the mixed doubles matches, claiming two rubbers each, as Echuca wrapped up the overall win. However, at the time of writing the result was not yet finalised, with Rich River disputing the outcome after two Echuca 1 players were alleged to have played in two complete matches in the same round.
The match between LBU 1 and Rochester 1 was abandoned.
