The clash saw each side take one rink each, with Mathoura skip Jason McCloy earning points for his side with a 27-24 shot win over Echuca skip Roma Opie.
The rink skipped by Ian Page proved the difference for Echuca, however, with Di Payne (lead), Kristy Gillingham (second) and Michelle Cunnington (third) helping their side to a 24-14 win, which proved the difference overall.
Skips Peter Pangrazio (Mathoura) and Kerryn Evans (Echuca) could not be split in their rink, playing out an 18-18 draw.
Deniliquin moved into second spot on the ladder following a 14-64 to 2-57 win over Rich River.
Playing at Rich River Bowls Club, the home side secured success with a 20-19 shot win courtesy of skip Trevor Nagorcka’s quartet.
They were unable to record wins in any other rink, however, as Stephen O’Brien led Deniliquin to a 23-16 win in his rink, the biggest margin across all three contests, while Conway Bovell skipped the visitors to a one-shot win in the remaining rink to win 22-21.
Moama claimed an emphatic 16-69 to 0-44 win over Rochester at Rochester Bowls Club to maintain top spot on the ladder.
Skip Robyn Thomassen led the way for Moama, opening up a 24-12 advantage in their rink, while Marilyn Stephenson skipped her foursome to a 22-13 win over the Brian Trengove-led Rochester.
Robert Wastell closed out his rink 23-19 to ensure a clean sweep of all three rinks for the visitors, sealing yet another dominant performance for the Steamers.
Division two
Deniliquin RSL earned a mammoth victory over Ky Valley View, winning 16-92 to 0-33, while Moama was also big winners over Rich River, claiming the clash 16-73 to 0-35.
Echuca proved too strong for Stanhope, winning 12-60 to 4-54, while Rochester had the bye.
Division three
Deniliquin RSL won both rinks in its clash against Echuca to win 14-45 to 0-34, as did Deniliquin in its 14-53 to 0-31 win against Moama Green.
Rich River beat Lockington 14-38 to 0-29, while Elmore earned a 12-55 to 2-41 win over Mathoura.
Moama Black recorded a narrow five-shot victory over Tongala Red, triumphing 12-44 to 2-39, while Tongala Yellow prevailed 12-39 to 2-29 over Rochester.
