Echuca export Clayton Oliver put on a masterclass on Sunday night as Melbourne defeated Richmond in the traditional Anzac Day eve clash.

The Demons star took home the Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes medal for his best-on-ground performance at the MCG, with a memorable win continuing Melbourne’s undefeated start to the season.
Oliver had 41 disposals on the night, including 22 contested possessions, with the best-on-ground recognition another medal to add to an ever-growing trophy cabinet.

At Adelaide Oval, Todd Marshall continued his bright start to the year, kicking five goals and one point as Port Adelaide beat West Coast.
Marshall had an accurate eye for goal, with his Power handing the Eagles an 84-point drubbing.
The five-goal haul was the Deniliquin product’s second of the year, with a round three showdown performance equally as impressive on the scorecard.
Marshall was not the only player from the region that helped Port get over the line, with Echuca’s Ollie Wines collecting 33 disposals and scoring a major.

Over in the west, Fremantle continued its positive start to the year with a 35-point win over Carlton.
The Dockers have been quietly going about their business in the opening rounds of the season, with three players from the region performing well.
Moama’s Lachie Schultz had a good day out, scoring three goals and three points, while Seymour’s David Mundy also had an impact with 22 touches and five tackles.
Shepparton’s Will Brodie was the standout export from this game, collecting the ball 27 times and kicking his first goal in a Fremantle jumper.
Brodie told fremantlefc.com.au he enjoyed kicking his first goal in purple.
“It was really great, I really enjoyed (the goal). The Purple Army got around me, so it was heaps of fun, I loved it,” Brodie said.
“I think Carlton are in really good form at the moment. We knew they were going to bring a great contest.”
In other export exploits, Finley’s Tom Hawkins did what he does best, kicking four goals and a point in Geelong’s 60-point demolition of North Melbourne in Hobart.
Mooroopna product Jy Simpkin got 21 disposals and a goal for North, in what was a tough day at the office for the Kangaroos.
Kyabram’s Nick Holman managed a tidy three goals in Gold Coast’s 52-point loss to Brisbane, while Seymour’s Josh Schache kicked two goals in the Western Bulldogs’ one-point loss to Adelaide.
