While Kyabram Fire Brigade maestro Daniel Kent made headlines for his McMahon Shield century of 106, his was not the highest score of the round.
That honour went to Northern United opening batter Angus McKindlay in the Williams Shield clash against Echuca South, compiling 138 of United’s score of 283 runs.
On top of that, McKindlay carried his bat as United lost just two wickets in its 40 overs.
Behind Kent and McKindlay, Will Devlin played one of the most important innings of the round with his 80 not-out against Echuca in A-grade, resurrecting Moama’s innings from 3-3 to a defendable 8-211.
Ash Hughes of Girgarre was next on the list with a score of 80 runs against Bamawm Lockington United in the Underwood Shield.
Not to be outdone by the batters, a handful of competition bowlers found the perfect line and length, with four players notching up five-wicket hauls.
Matthew Dennis of Colbinabbin headlined the best performers, helping his side defend a paltry 86 against Leitchville-Gunbower.
He did so with 5-6 from his five overs, bundling out L-G for 68 in the 30th over.
Moama Cricket Club’s Simon Porter had the measure of Cooma’s batters in their Underwood Shield clash, claiming 5-11.
Aaron Juffs holds the distinction this round of claiming a five-for in a losing side, his 5-22 not enough to claim victory for Elmore in the Williams Shield clash against Rochester, despite his efforts instigating Rochy’s dismissal for just 131 runs.
Stanhope’s Hamish Stewart rounded out the list of five-wicket-takers with 5-36 against Tongala.
