The Redbacks’ Brian Harrington and Flynn Mosley took on John and Sienna Bajada of the Owls.
John Bajada had a strong victory over Harrington which Sienna Bajada followed up with a three-set win over Mosley.
The Owls won a hard-fought battle in the doubles. Harrington then got the Redbacks a win by beating Sienna Bajada in two sets before John Bajada won against Mosley — 4-1 to the Owls.
The Crocodiles’ Gareth Burnell and James Depio had a 3-2 victory over Stephen Lane and Xavier Rhodes, Taipans.
Lane beat Burnell in two sets, and Depio had a win over Rhodes in a topsy-turvy match.
The Crocodiles won the doubles in two sets before Burnell had a win over Rhodes and Lane beat Depio.
William Tong and Logan Hyland of the Possums played Matt Parkinson and Paul Shea of the Yellow Bellies.
Tong had a good win over Parkinson. Shea beat Hyland in two sets. The doubles went to the Possums.
Hyland then had a win over Parkinson in three tight sets before Tong finished off by winning against Shea — 4-1 to the Possums.
The battle between the Kangas, Michelle Feldtman and Max O'Loughlan and the Galahs, Mark O'Loughlan featured some very close matches.
Feldtman beat Mark O'Loughlan in two tight sets. Max O'Loughlan had a win over Lane in three sets.
The doubles also went to three, with the Kangas victorious.
Feldtman proved too strong for Lane in another three-setter. Mark O'Loughlan finished off with a win over his son, Max, whose team had a 4-1 victory.
B-grade
Wombats’ Pauline Hooper and Elliot McCallum had a 5-0 win over Gavin Hunt and Rae Spencer, playing for the Cockies.
Hooper beat Hunt in three close sets, McCallum won in two over Spencer, and the doubles went to three sets. It was a straight-sets win to McCallum over Hunt and Hooper over Spencer.
A doubles victory in three sets proved crucial when the Gliders’ Carol Perry and Mehdi Zamani had a win against the Mozzies’ Chris Seely and Chris Goode.
Perry had a comfortable win against Seely. Goode then evened the scores with a win against Zamani. Goode had a win over Perryand Zamani beat Seely.
Geraldine Maloney won a close three-set match against veteran John Spencer, and Wesley Shea followed up with a three-set win over Bill Sharp to give the Frogs a two-match advantage over the Rosellas.
The Frogs won the doubles in two sets, and Shea won against Spencer. Sharp got the Rosellas on the board with a three-set win over Maloney — Frogs 4 Rosellas 1.
Numbats’ Graeme Sharp and Andy Donaldson won in the doubles, with a 3-2 win over the Bullants, Laurence Donaldson and Lois Hermiston.
In the singles, Sharp was too experienced for Donaldson. Lois had a strong win over Andy Donaldson. Laurence Donaldson won a tough match against Andy Donaldson, and Sharp won another against Hermiston.
C-grade
The Magpies’ Daniel Wright and Brendan Kipping played Crickets’ Christine Nicholas and Colin McFarlane.
Wright won in two sets over Nicholas. McFarlane had a strong win over Kipping. The doubles went to the Crickets in straight sets before Wright beat McFarlane in two, and Nicholas had a two-set win over Kipping — Crickets 3, Magpies 2.
The Falcons’ Peter Cruickshanks and Val Kipping had a 3-2 win against the Doves’ Helen Hyland and Jack Erickson.
Hyland beat Cruickshanks in two sets. Kipping beat Erickson in two close sets. Victory went to the Doves in the doubles. Kipping then beat Hyland 24-22 in the third set of their match, and Cruickshanks beat Erickson in two sets, giving the Falcons a 3-2 win.
The Koalas’ Andrea Cathcart and Alejandro Diaz had a 3-2 win against Trent Kelly and Andrew Morrison playing for the Hawks.
Kelly had a two-set win over Cathcart. Diaz beat Morrison in two sets. The doubles was won by the Koalas. Kelly won against Diaz in two sets. Cathcart finished off with a comfortable win against Morrison.
