Unfortunately for the Pirates, the second encounter with the Blasters this season ended in a heftier loss, as the visitors went down 99-60.
Mitch Markby got the game started for the visitors, nailing a pair of buckets early to give hope for the Pirates.
Things remained competitive through the middle of the first quarter before Seymour dropped an avalanche to take a 29-21 lead at quarter time.
It took nearly six minutes into the second period for the Pirates to get another point, courtesy of a Keoni Anderson free throw, and in that time Seymour had added seven to its tally.
Points were difficult to come by for both sides, but the Blasters remained the more consistent unit, outscoring Echuca 22-14 to take a 16-point lead at the half-time siren.
Seymour got back to its first-quarter best, piling on 29 points in the third term to sink the Pirates, who struggled to find open looks, settling for 11 points for the quarter, with the gap widening to 34 with a frame to play.
Echuca managed to fight back slightly down the stretch, putting up 14 points in the final stanza, but it was the Blasters who kept their noses in front, outscoring their opponent with 19 points to cruise to a 39-point blowout.
Seymour’s Tyler Best led all scorers with 29 points. Mitchell Sutton (10) was Echuca’s top scorer, with Oscar Jones and Markby close behind (9).
The Pirates won’t have much time to dwell on the loss, as they will host second-placed Shepparton Gators at Echuca Basketball Stadium on Sunday.
