Blues outlast Demons to claim thrilling win

Down by seven, Picola kicked another two goals to try and make up ground while the Demons continued on nailing another 4.4 to make the disparity 23 at the major break.

The Blues came out all guns blazing in the third term, launching a seven-goal barrage while holding Jerilderie to 2.1 to snatch the lead with a quarter to play.

The game came to a grinding halt in the fourth quarter with Picola adding one behind to its tally down the stretch, while the Demons looked ominous, kicking a goal and behind to bring the win within their grasp.

Thankfully for the Blues, the siren sounded before Jerilderie could take the win away, with the visitors claiming a heroic single-point win in enemy territory.

The final score was Picola United 12.2 (74) to Jerilderie 11.7 (73).

Hayden Brown’s four-goal effort went a long way in securing the win, with Cody Haub chipping in with a three-goal cameo.

Brown and Haub were joined by Tom Byrnes, Jareds Laffy, Blake Jorgensen and Benjamin Turpin on the Blues’ best on list.

Picola United remains undefeatedin 2025 and is in second place behind Waaia and will look to continue its hot streak against Deniliquin Rovers in round seven.
