The home side got it on its terms for the first half, but the gallant, but undermanned Bulldogs were competitive in the second half, but broke down in attack.
Up to the main break Tatura hadn’t scored a goal, but matched the Bombers for more than half the third term with Liam Scopelliti and Jacob Chessels kicking its only two goals for the game.
In the first half, Kyabram’s midfielders and on-ballers led by ruckman Zac Norris and Aidan Robinson and Josh Dillon, Mick Mattingly, Kaine Herbert, Jack Russell and Archie Watt owned the Sherrin in dominant displays.
Dillon was the surprise packet, also hurting Tatura at the goalmouth in a six-goal personal best haul at this level.
The tenacious hard-nut noted ground dweller added some superb aerial work to his bag of tricks in this game and with reliable Charlie Barnett with five goals and Anthony Depasquale (three goals), Aidian Robinson, Riley Ironside and Eamonn Ogden, all with two, hurt the Bulldogs at the goalmouth.
Mattingly, Herbert, Russell and Norris, in particular, had the ball on a string all game and racked up huge disposals with their relentless running.
Depasquale made an unexpected return to the Kyabram side from VFL team Werribee to play his fourth game with the Bombers this season.
He now needs only one more GVL game and no more than 12 appearances with Werribee to be eligible to play GVL finals.
While its engine room was supreme on Saturday Kyabram’s underrated defence was also sound again.
The usual suspects in Brad Whitford and Jason Morgan were the main inspirations again, but Jake Parkinson, Cooper Vick, Jack Sheldon, Angus Scoble and Oscar Dixon assisted strongly to completely shut down the Tatura attack for more than three quarters of the game.
Tanner Miller, Ryan Young, Andrew Ciavarella, Curtis Ryan and Mitchell Elliott battled hard for Tatura which moved the ball quite well at times, but didn’t have the big bodies, particularly up forward, to make an impact.
Kyabram travels to Benalla this Saturday and, if it continues its current hunger for the ball, should win again.
My best for Kyabram (in an even team): Josh Dillon, Mick Mattingly, Kaine Herbert, Charlie Barnett, Zac Norris, Brad Whitford, Jack Russell and Jason Morgan.
· Kyabram reserves also had a big win, kicking 26.12 while keeping Tatura scoreless.
The Bombers started the game positively and ended it in even more convincing fashion.
In the opening term the Bombers slammed on 7.2 and came home with a nine-goal final term burst.
The game marked the first appearance of Coby McCarthy who made his debut with the club after switching from Mooroopna this season and had been sidelined until Saturday with a consistent groin injury.
The Bombers had plenty of goal-scoring options led by David Coulthard with four and Sam Vick, Ben Railton and Tom Curnow with three each.
Back after injury, rover Mitch Gugliotti was Kyabram’s busiest playmaker on the day, but had plenty of support from Adam Pulsoni, Sam Vick, Billy McLay and Ben Railton, while Will Burnett and Cooper Fawcett were also prominent.
For Tatura, Daniel Beattie, Shelby Ludlow-Lambrick and James Fraser stood out, while Lincoln Bedwell and Josh Davies also battled hard against the odds.
· Tatura couldn’t raise the numbers to form a thirds side and forfeited to Kyabram.
