The match was a tale of two quarters, as the Grasshoppers managed to get onto the Bombers in the second and third term despite some resistance in the first and fourth.
Goal scoring was difficult to come by for L-G which couldn’t kick any more than one a quarter, which proved to be the same for Colbo in the opening period.
With one goal, the difference to start the contest, the Grasshoppers got onto the hosts in the second frame, kicking 4.4 while limiting the Bombers to a sole maximum to take a 28-point lead at half-time.
Colbo continued on after the major break, bagging three more goals and four behinds to extend its lead, while it was copy and paste for L-G, adding one more goal to the tally.
The game stagnated in the fourth quarter in what turned into a dog fight, with the Grasshoppers getting the only goal down the stretch while the Bombers kicked one minor at the same time.
The final score was L-G 3.2 (20) to Colbinabbin 10.10 (70).
Blake Dye, Charles Hancock and Christopher Horman kicked the only goals for the Bombers in the contest with Jye Keath, Jett Keam, Will Brereton, Max Hagan, Bradley Green and Brady Hore featuring on the best list.
The 50-point defeat will be disheartening to a team that made the grand final last season and finds itself in seventh heading into round five.
Speaking of the next round, L-G will be able to hopefully start to turn its season around when it travels to Barrack Reserve to take on Heathcote.
