The women’s side travelled to McEwen Reserve in Shepparton, and took on Shepparton South SC in BASL League 1.
The Border Raiders had come out on top the last time the sides met, grabbing the win 5-4, but with home field advantage this week, South worked its way into control for most of the game
Samantha Comline opened the scoring in the 11th minute, giving South something to defend early on.
That was how the match stayed until halftime, leaving the visiting Border Raiders with work to do in the second 45.
The halftime score held for almost 25 minutes after the break until South’s Maya Vukcevic put the game beyond doubt with a three-minute brace.
Vukcevic struck first in the 69th minute and again in the 71st to put her side up 3-0, a lead it held until the final whistle.
South moved above the Border Raiders on the league table, pushing the Echuca-Moama side down to sixth.
There is a tight battle to avoid relegation among the bottom four, with Shepparton South now leading the group on eight points, followed by the Border Raiders (7), La Trobe University (5) and FC Eaglehawk (3).
The women’s side returns to home turf at Jack Eddy Oval on Sunday when it takes on league leader Spring Gully.

The Border Raiders remain in fifth, and trail fourth-placed Strathfieldsaye by eight points.
Echuca-Moama will return to home action on Sunday at Jack Eddy Oval, when winless Deniliquin Wanderers travel to Moama.
Two of the Border Raiders’ three wins this year came against the Wanderers.
