Despite winning just one rink out of three, Echuca claimed a thrilling win over Rochester in Saturday’s division one weekend pennant action.
Echuca snared a five-shot win over a determined Rochester outfit with James Ferrier’s rink proving decisive against the flow of play.
Richard Feuk’s rink fired Rochester to the perfect start with a 24-16 win over Steve Cunnington’s rink and John Week’s 24-20 victory had Rochester in the box seat to pick up its second win.
But it was Ferrier, Phillip Thorn, Trevor Liddell and Leica Roney in the second rink of the day who stepped up to swing the momentum back in Echuca’s favour, securing a 26-9 win over Tim Quinlan.
The result is another important step for Echuca after last Saturday’s victory over Tongala, but despite the win, Echuca remains sixth on the division one ladder.
