Cats fall to strong Colbinabbin outfit

Facing a seven-point deficit at quarter-time, LBU rallied to win the second term and reduce the margin to just four points at the half.

But it was all Colbo from there, as the home side lit up Colbinabbin Recreation Reserve in the third term to kick 7.6 (48) to just 1.2 from the Cats and give themselves a 44-point buffer at the final break.

The Hoppers carried on with it in the final term, too, with another five-goal-to-two term, resulting in the 61-point win.

Tom Leech (one goal) was among the best for LBU, as were Taylor Butler (two goals), Bowden Stone, Kyle Baker (one goal), Elijah Bruns (one goal) and Bailey Coutts.

Anthony McMahon and Reece Wissell rounded out the goalkickers, booting two and one each, respectively.

The Cats will attempt to make their way back to the winner’s list next week when they take on North Bendigo at home.

Lockington Bamawm United was unable to add a third win for the season to its tally against Colbinabbin at the weekend, with the Grasshoppers proving far too strong.

The Cats, who sit 2-4 following the loss, fell 34-77 against a tough Hoppers outfit, and now find themselves sitting seventh on the ladder at the end of round seven.

LBU will head in favourites next weekend however when it hosts North Bendigo, with the Bulldogs sitting eighth with a 1-5 record.
