Crossman, 16, played a pivotal role in the triumph over Harkaway Tennis Club earlier this month at Royal South Yarra in Melbourne, as Kooyong stormed to the 4-7-50 to 0-2-24 win.
Playing against Harkaway pairing Kirra Bond-Scott and Madison Ashley in the first doubles rubber, Crossman and teammate Gabrielle Villegas were made to work hard in the first set, which they claimed 7-5, before powering home to claim the second set 6-2 to take the match.
Crossman took the first set in her singles rubber 6-0 over Bond-Scott and looked like she would comfortably seal a classy win. However, the match wasn’t completed after other results saw Kooyong take an unassailable 4-0 lead to secure the title.
The accolade is the latest in a long string of impressive achievements for the young talent, yet is particularly impressive for the fact that it comes at the highest level of team tennis possible in Victoria.
In the lead up to a big summer of tennis Crossman is also taking her game to the global stage, currently plying her trade in South Korea.
Competing in the ITF J200 Chuncheon Lee Duk Hee Cup this week in Chuncheon, approximately an hour north-east of Seoul, Crossman drew the third seed Gaeul Jang in the first round.
Unfortunately the home favourite Jang, who is ranked inside the top 100 juniors worldwide, proved too strong for Crossman, who fell 4-6, 1-6.
The Asia/Oceania Regional Championships, to be held in Wanju next week, will provide Crossman with an opportunity to bounce back, with another world-class field assembled.
The latest achievements have also been recognised by Tennis Victoria, with Crossman nominated as a finalist in the Junior Female Athlete of the Year category. The winner will be announced at the 2023 Victorian Tennis Awards Night on October 17.
