The match-up against Jerilderie, which on the surface seemed relatively even, was anything but at Jerilderie Recreation Reserve.
The Timbercutters held their own in the first frame, kicking a trio of maximums and a pair of behinds in the first quarter, while the Demons kicked only one more goal and behind, respectively, to take a seven-point lead a quarter-time.
Yet Mathoura’s good start was only that. They were held scoreless in the second period while Jerilderie banked five goals and three assists to take a comfortable 40-point lead at the half.
The Timbercutters only added eight points to their total with a goal and two behinds in the third term, while the Demons had a field day, drilling seven goals and four behinds to extend their lead to 78 heading into the final stretch.
Jerilderie took its foot off the accelerator in the fourth quarter, but it still managed to add three goals and two assists to its total.
Meanwhile, Mathoura kicked a pair and a trio of behinds to end its season, the final score being Jerilderie 19.12 (126) to 6.7 (43).
It was a group effort for the Timbercutters, with not one player kicking more than a single goal.
Corey Farrell, Luka Simpson, Jack Duggan, Beau Duggan-Hulands, Lachlan Carmody and Jake Cardilin were named in Mathoura’s best for their final outing of the season.
The Timbercutters will work hard in the off-season to crack a finals spot in 2025.

Jerilderie has put Mathoura A-grade netball to the sword in its final outing for the season.
The Timbercutters only scored five goals in the first frame, while the Demons got off to a strong start, bagging 15 to take a 10-point lead at quarter-time.
Jerilderie continued to increase its lead in the second period, collecting nine goals while holding Mathoura to four to head into half-time up 20.
The Timbercutters tried their best to find ways to score but only came up with five goals in the third term, while the Demons piled on a staggering 20 goals to increase their lead to 35 heading into the fourth quarter.
Jerilderie outdid itself in the final frame, notching 21 goals to end its last game of the season with 70 goals.
Meanwhile, Mathoura had its most productive period in the fourth, scoring seven goals to bring its total to 21. However, it was defeated by the Demons by 49.
Both teams will miss finals and look to the 2025 season to rise into the top eight.
