The Timbercutters were easily defeated by finals side Deniliquin Rovers in the penultimate Picola District Football League round, going down 27.18 (180) to 1.5 (11)
Mathoura started positively in attack, kicking its goal in the first period at Memorial Park at Deniliquin.
Defensively, there was little the Cutters could muster to hold off the Rovers, and the hosts booted eight of their own before the first break.
The margin continued to escalate throughout the game as Deni took the opportunity to build a strong percentage.
Kyle Magro was the lone goal-kicker for Mathoura, while Tyson Willis slotted nine to lead Deniliquin.
Mitch Worsnop, Magro, Leigh Danaher, Kai Shiels, Ridley Gass and Hamish Ryan-Dengate performed well for the Cutters in the heavy loss.
Mathoura finishes its year at home against a geographical rival, as it welcomes Picola United to Mathoura Recreation Reserve in round 18.
