The John Stokes-skipped team of Robert Wastell, Jason McCloy and 13-year-old Jacob Brighton took out the top prize after 96 teams were whittled down to two, with an 11-3 victory last Sunday over runners-up Rod Werner, John Caldwell, Brian Mansbridge and Brody Harker.
Two sides tied for podium honours: the team of Guy Madigan, David Cartwright, Mark Ryan and Dave Daws (Piethief BC) and the composite outfit of Peter Tinning, Wayne Cowley, Col Hayes and Matt Liverton.
The fours rounded out what was another successful carnival for Moama, with more than 1100 bowlers across 480 teams competing in the week-long tournament.
Moama also set a date for its next carnival, which will take place from May 11 to 19 next year.
Representative teams from Victoria’s 16 bowls regions will now descend on Moama and Echuca bowling clubs this weekend for the men’s and women’s Region Sides tournament, while Australian Indoor Qualifiers commence the following Saturday at Moama.
