The clash at Echuca South Recreation Reserve had big Murray Netball League finals implications.
A win would assure the Rams finals and eliminate the loser between Moama and Numurkah, while a loss would see Deni’s season ended.
With the opportunity to play spoiler and to end the year on a high, United didn’t hold anything back, but it was Deniliquin that had the early lead, taking the first term 14-9.
The Eagles fought back in the second and had cut the deficit to two goals by half-time.
There was little between the sides in the third, but it was the Rams who took the term by a goal, and they were able to close things out 43-38 in the final quarter.
Deni moved up into sixth place, eliminating Numurkah.
Echuca United ends the season in eighth place, putting together a 6-1-11 record.
The rejuvenated side has made plenty of forward steps this season, improving on last year’s squad's two-win effort.
Another off-season of development should only provide further growth and a return to finals will be the goal for 2026.
