Echuca United walked into grand final day with seven teams going for titles, and the club walked out with all seven sides bringing home the silverware at Moama Recreation Reserve.
Now the Eagles are set to commemorate that accomplishment with a reunion this Saturday.
About 60 people representing the seven sides are expected at Echuca South Recreation Reserve, with a marquee set up in time for a 1pm start, allowing attendees to take in Echuca United’s current A-grade squad as it battles league-leader and defending champion Rumbalara.
Then-netball president and one of the organisers of the reunion, Fiona Davis, says the club’s accomplishment 10 years ago was unprecedented.
“Supposedly (the league's) had five from five, six from six, but not the seven from seven, so we do believe that it is a history-making thing,” she said.
“When we fronted up that day and in the preparations during the week, we were quietly confident of at least coming away with four, but to come away with the seven was just amazing.
“The biggest achievement was probably by the B-grade who ended up playing (extra time), and they beat an unbeaten team.
“Once we got the B-grade under our belt, we actually were more nervous than ever because we thought that this could actually come off.”
The club’s A-, B-, C-, C-Reserve, under-15, under-13 and under-12 sides all brought home silverware, with the under-17 side the only team not to feature on grand final day.
Although the under-11s are not scored, Davis believes that there’s every chance they too could have grabbed a title if one was on offer, deeming them “far superior” to their competition each week.
She credited the club’s culture as the catalyst for the impressive 2015 season.
“We knew that we had built (the club) quite well leading up to the 2015 season,” she said.
“We knew that we would be competitive in most grades, but we certainly didn't expect to come away with this success that we did.
“It was a lot of energy by a huge team, and we just tried to make it all family-friendly and make it so that whoever wanted to do something could.
“Sometimes clubs can be a little bit insular and new people come on board, and they want to do something but only in little bits, and they don't want to take on big jobs.
“We just encouraged anybody who wanted to do anything, it was all always valued, and it just seemed to all work.”
With so many sides winning, the reunion will feature both senior players who have now retired from competition and former juniors who are now in their early 20s.
Online bookings for the reunion have now closed, but anyone wishing to attend is encouraged to contact Fiona on 0409 937 050.
