The weekend pennant is heating up at the top after leader Echuca dropped its first match of the season in Campaspe Playing Area.

Deniliquin capitalised on its home greens to comfortably down the competition’s top dog 14-64 to 2-44.
Conway Bovell’s squad was firing on all cylinders as it kept the Echuca opposition to single figures 23-8.

Shane Laing also had a strong win for Deni, 26-18, with only Phillip Thorn able to skip his Echuca side to rink points 18-15.
At Moama Bowling Club, Moama closed on the leaders with a comprehensive 16-70 to 0-49 victory over Mathoura.

The biggest margin was in the rink skipped by Jock Linehan, who took down Peter Holzer’s squad 28-14.
In the other rinks, Robert Young prevailed 21-19, while Geoffrey Beattie took the points 21-16 in a Moama clean sweep.

Stanhope dropped a second consecutive game at the weekend, falling to Kyabram 13-66 to 3-59.
A strong result from Robert George, 26-17, put Kyabram in a good position and, while Stanhope’s Robert Ponton won his rink 21-19, a draw between Justin Spedding (Stanhope) and Greg Shilling (Kyabram) saw Ky hold on to the overall points.
Marilyn Stephenson was part of Moama’s biggest win of the afternoon.

The remaining game of division one had Tongala close on the top four with a high-scoring win over Rich River 14-77 to 2-42.
Stephen Hammond’s quartet cleaned up, the 32-9 margin in his rink a big contributor to the final margin, while Bradley Tinning was also victorious for Tonny, 27-13.

Tim Noar narrowly pulled one back for Rich River, 20-18, to earn two points, but it did little on the overall tally.
Rochester scored maximum points with the bye.
An intriguing top four now sees Echuca (84) within striking distance of a closely-packed next three, Moama (77), Stanhope (75) and Deniliquin (74).

Lower divisions
In division two, Stanhope edged out Echuca despite dropping two rinks, 12-58 to 4-54.
Moama was perfect against Deniliquin, 16-59 to 0-43, and Rich River scored the win over Kyabram, 15-70 to 1-44.
Tongala had the bye.
In division three, Echuca narrowly took down Deniliquin, 13-62 to 3-60, while Tongala beat Rich River, 14-68 to 2-55, and Moama dominated Elmore, 16-66 to 0-51.
Kyabram won a close one over Stanhope, 14-60 to 2-58, and Lockington took all three rinks against Rochester, 16-76 to 0-57.
In division four, Echuca scored 43 shots in a single rink in a huge 14-95 to 2-40 result, while Rich River had a more nervous success over Tongala, 12-58 to 4-56.
Moama scored strongly over Mathoura 16-83 to 0-43, Kyrabram also ran up the score against Deniliquin RSL, 14-72 to 2-48, and Rochester just survived Lockington 14-57 to 2-56.
In division five, Deniliquin White defeated Echuca White 12-45 to 2-32, while Moama got the best of Deniliquin Blue 12-40 to 2-35.
Stanhope took down Kyabram 14-53 to 0-27 and Rochester edged out Echuca Blue 12-38 to 2-36.
The result between Lockington and Rich River wasn’t available.
