In the second 2024 grand final rematch of the season, Echuca still couldn’t find a way to stop the Goulburn Valley League netball juggernaut Euroa in round 13.

While it was a fairly close first quarter, the Magpies went from strength to strength through the remainder of the match to bag a declarative 25-goal victory over the 2024 runner-up.

Euroa goaled a staggering 20 times in the opening stanza, with Echuca managing just half of its opponent's total by quarter-time.

The Magpies doubled their score in the second period, with the Murray Bombers falling one short of their previous effort, resulting in a 21-goal Euroa lead at the major break.

Echuca (11) couldn’t claw its way back to striking distance as Euroa had a quieter yet still productive attacking quarter of 14 goals, with the deficit sitting at 24 with a quarter to play.

With the game all but won for the Magpies, they had their least impactful stretch of play in the fourth quarter, adding 13 goals to their total.

In contrast, the Murray Bombers put in their best effort in the goal circle with 12 goals in the final frame, which wasn’t enough to make a dent in Euroa’s lead.

The final score was 42 to 67.

This keeps the Magpies at the top of the netball tree and remain unbeaten with five rounds remaining in the home and away season.

Meanwhile, Echuca will have a stressful back end of the season ahead to try and sneak into the top six come September.

This challenge won’t start easily as the Murray Bombers will travel to Tatura Park to face the fifth-placed Bulldogs in round 14.
