Lockington Bowling Club
Bowls on Saturday was for the bold and the brave, with intermittent showers and gale force winds.
Suddenly, there was a little ray of sunshine.
Overall the conditions were a bit extreme, but as it was once mentioned, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going”.
On the day of scrounge there was only a handful of bowlers to play the game.
On rink one, Kim Ray was in fine touch to amass 54 points to win, ahead of Neil Haines and Natalie Leemanshee, both tied on 41 points.
The other rink ceased play due to the rain and “the swing-man” Peter Egan joined the group on rink one and proved a stumbling block.
Last Wednesday the conditions were similar to the weekend; however, Graham Turner, Bruce Haines, Denise Gilmore and Alan Kauffman showed their wares, but no chocolates.
The game of scrounge will continue on a Wednesday and a Saturday, weather permitting.
Several members played the Mathoura tournament on the weekend.
No results at the time of print, but there will be further news on the matter next week.
The Lockington Bowls Club wishes to thank Terri Hastie (local Neighbourhood Business Centre) for the contribution to the benefit of the club through her effort in the proposal of gaining the local government grants.
Much appreciated, Terri, and the club wishes you well in your new environment.
The club thanks the members for the work and effort in updating the kitchen area. Looks great.
On the greens side, the club acknowledges the input and tremendous work ethic from Kevin Humbert over the past seasons.
Kevin has relinquished the position of greenskeeper and the club is searching for a suitable replacement to assist Les Brereton with the formidable duties.
