The first week of the club’s five-week five-a-side competition sponsored by Moama Village Pharmacy saw 40 bowlers take to the greens on Tuesday, November 9, with winners being the Lions team led by Daryl LaVelle.

Thursday’s Jackpot Pairs saw excellent competition with six teams winning both games, including with overall winners Toby Egan and Eugene Xodo (2+27).
Runners-up were Rich River pair John James and Bruce O’Neale (2+19), with Evan Berryman and Paul Leach (2+9), Ivan Hicks and Trevor Liddell (2+11), Trevor Rickard and Max Clifford (2+11) and Don Hicks and John Kelly (2+17) the other teams to win both games.
Best one game went to Kyabram’s Maurie Hately and John Brown (+13).
Spots are filling fast for the two Christmas Bonanza events scheduled for Wednesday, December 8, for ladies, and Thursday, December 9 for men.

Monday, November 15
Twenty-eight players played two games of nine ends.
The winners on 33 points were Rick Panozzo (s), Pat Benson, and Paula Barkham; runners-up with 32 points were Maurie Orchard (s), P. Colin Hicks, Bev Healy and Helen Salter.
Consolation prizes went to Val Gaylor, Mary Marwood, Pam Kerr and Meryl Clancy.
Lockington
The women played rinks at their social bowls on Tuesday, November 9.
The winning team on the day was new bowler Jodie Verhey, Sue Harris, Denise Gilmore and Phyllis MacFarlane (s) in a brilliant all-round performance.
That same Tuesday evening the club staged the first round of its sports night bowls.
With a small field participating, the bowling was of a high standard.
The team of Neil Haines, Jeff Carnie and Steve Pavone (s) excelled on the night to collect the trophies.
Sports night bowls will continue on a Tuesday evening — names to be listed prior to 6.45pm for a 7pm start. Bare feet or flat-soled shoes are required, while bowls are available at the club.
The club had Friday evening practice and sausage sizzle. The members' draw favoured the absent Annette Brereton. The Friday evening barbecue will resume this week.
Mathoura
Men's 25 Club Championship singles is now playing round three, which should be played on or before November 21.Thanks to all players for keeping this going.
Social bowls to be held on Tuesdays, with names in by noon for a 1pm start.
Casual dress and flat-soled shoes are recommended.

Sixty and over
November 10
The Campaspe Valley and district 60 and over bowls group held its Wednesday weekly bowls at Rochester Bowls Club on a cool day that threatened rain.
Thirty teams, consisting of 120 bowlers, competed for the Bill Jackson Shield and a chook.
Four teams had won three games, and rolled off to the jack.
Two Rochester teams won the day with Aton Gusak’s team coming second with three bowls near the jack.
The winning team was from Rochester and had five bowls near the jack, with Daryl Hooper (s), Graham Willis, Mal Macraild and Mick Ellis receiving the Bill Jackson Shield from president Stan Limbrick.
Runners-up were Aton Gusak, Rod McAsey, Noel Sexton and Graham Prince.
Members of both teams received a chook each.
Today, Wednesday, November 17, is 60 and over at Echuca with an 11 am start.
On November 24, bowls will be played at Lockington with an 11 am start. Please note this has changed from what is in the book, as several greens are under repair and unplayable at present.
