Rich River Croquet Club
Rich River Croquet Club hosted the Goulburn Valley Croquet Association tournament from May 25-28 in sunny, chilly and rainy weather.
On Thursday and Friday, four players competed in division three. After playing two rounds, the winner was Bruce Shaw of Quarry Hill, winning five of six games. Runner-up was Tony Pye of Eastern Park after winning four of six games.
Also competing on Thursday and Friday were seven players in division four. Three players won four of six games, including David Pryor of Kew who was the winner with nett hoops (+24) ahead of runner-up Irene Murdoch (Quarry Hill) with +15.
Divisions one, 2a and 2b competed on Saturday and Sunday. Greg Hill (Brunswick) proved to be the best in division one by pegging out in all five of his games. Runner-up was Lindsay Patullo (Charlton), winning three of five games.
In division 2a, Trevor Taylor (Kew) won four of four games ahead of John Young (Mooroopna) with three games.
In division 2b, the winner was Bill Humphreys (Quarry Hill) who also won all four of his games. Tim Woolford-Smith (Port Macquarie) was the best of the two-game winners with nett hoops of +18 to be the runner-up .
Congratulations to all winners. Well done to all Rich River members who helped in any way.
Tuesday, May 30:
Sixteen members plus a visitor, John De Trafford from Eastern Park Geelong, played singles.
Only two won three games. Sandra Retallick was the winner on +10. The runner-up was Dave Maher on +6. Hoops-in-one were scored by our visitor John and by Cheryl Lees.
The RRCC Handicap Doubles will be played Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4.
