Division 1 was a tussle between Russell Smyth and Ian Grant, with Russell walking away the winner.
Division 2 saw Dave Maher, Anne Dodd, Ruth Mole and Bev Floyd do battle. After playing each other twice, it was Dave who took out honours.
In Division 3, we had Helen and Greg Brierley, Doc Ryant, Kaye Joyce, Kevin Harrison, Maree Maher, Sandra Retallick, Fiona Larcombe and Cherie Lessing fight it out for top spot.
There were some close games and some not-so-close games but it came down to the last hoop in the final game to decide the winner. The winner was Greg, with Doc second and Helen third.
Congratulations to the winners and well done to all players.
Rich River Croquet Club held a stall at the Echuca Library Discovery Day hoping to attract new members to our club. Attendance was good and we handed out quite a few flyers to interested residents.
We will be holding two “come and try” sessions this week at the croquet courts at Rich River Golf Club. The first will be this Friday at 5pm and the second on Saturday at 9.30am.
Anyone who is interested in learning croquet or who just wants to find out what the game is all about are most welcome to attend. All equipment will be provided but please wear flat-soled shoes.
Echuca-Moama
Achievers: Echuca-Moama's four placegetters at the Boort croquet competition, Jenny van der Zande, Sandy Alstin, Jill Graham and Glenda Kelly.
Friday, March 18:
Ten Echuca-Moama Croquet Club members travelled to Boort for the Great Three-Day Competition.
Conditions were hot, but everyone enjoyed a great weekend thanks to the wonderful hosts.
Our placegetters for the weekend were Sandy Alstin, the winner of Section 4 doubles, and Glenda Kelly, who was runner-up in Section 3 doubles. Jill Graham and Jenny van der Zande were runner-up in their respective sections.
Monday, March 21:
Sixteen members and guests arrived at our new time of 9am for a 9.30am start.
On a hot day, members managed to play only two games before the heat made play untenable.
Hoops-in-one were achieved by Mavis Hatton, Jill Graham, Jenny van der Zande and Jack Clee.
And as always, two jump shots to ‘Jumping’ Johnny Tarrant.
