Thursday, October 21

Clyde Hillier had one of the scores of the year to win B-grade by the length of the straight.

Len Adams and Jim Wagstaff put up bold showings to fill the place-getters.

In A-grade Greg Norwood shot under par but it was only good enough for third place with Dave Edwards having a blinder. Danga Burke split the two for second place. It was a photo-finish in C-grade with Neil McBeath pipping Ray Steele and Michael Delahunty for the major prize.

A-grade: 1st Dave Edwards (43 points); 2nd Geoff Burke (42); 3rd Greg Norwood (41).

B-grade: 1st Clyde Hillier (45 points); 2nd Len Adams (40); 3rd Jim Wagstaff (40).

C-grade: 1st Neil McBeath (42 points); 2nd Ray Steele (41); 3rd Michael Delahunty (41).

Saturday, October 23

Men: Very windy conditions didn’t deter youngster Reece Thompson from shooting under par to win A-grade from Glenn “Rocket” Rogers and Alex Stephens.

Gerry Allen gave John “Doc” Azzopardi a sickly runners-up feeling in B-grade and Bernie McGrath had the score of the day to beat Bill Brodribb and John Berry in C-grade.

A-grade: 1st Reece Thompson (40 points); 2nd Glenn Rogers (39); 3rd Alex Stevens (38).

B-grade: 1st Gerry Allen (40 points); 2nd John Azzopardi (39); 3rd Brian Suffolk (39).

C-grade: 1st Bernie McGrath (42 points); 2nd Bill Brodribb (40); 3rd John Berry (40).

Ladies: Heather Gunstone shot a fine score of 40 stableford points to win the ladies’ event from Simone Morgan.

With husband Steve in such great form of late, it would have been nice for Simone to go home and tell him all about her good round. The consistent Gloria Bennett finished in third place.

A-grade: 1st Heather Gunstone (40 points); 2nd Simone Morgan (37); 3rd Gloria Bennett (36).

Sunday, October 24

Forty stableford points were scored by Heath Redwood to win A-grade, three shots clear of second-placed Andrew Beaumont, while Robin Holland took B-grade with 35 points.

A-grade: 1st Heath Redwood (40); 2nd Andrew Beaumont (37); 3rd Joe Shiels (36).

B-grade: 1st Robin Holland (35); 2nd Alan Curtis (34); 3rd Michael Deacon (33).

Monday, October 25

Nine-holes: Julie Leahy was in form on Monday to win A-grade with 19 stableford points, pipping Ann McPherson on a countback, followed by Debbie Morden with 18 points. Wendy Williams won the B-grade division.

A-grade: 1st Julie Leahy (19); 2nd Ann McPherson (19); 3rd Debbie Morden (18).

B-grade: 1st Wendy Williams (18); 2nd Noelene Charlton (17); 3rd Vicki Riddington (16).

18-hole medley: There was only one grade in the medley event with Jessica Cox continuing her winning way to take top spot with 37 points, from Eric Qualmann (35) in second place from Rick Robertson (32) in third.

Tuesday, October 26

Terry Cargill had the best score of the day to have a big win in C-grade.

Mark Prendergast elbowed out Bill Ramsay into second place in B-grade and Tom Flinn also shot well under his handicap to beat Steve Edwards in A-grade.

A-grade: 1st Tom Flinn (43 points); 2nd Steve Edwards (41); 3rd Billy Ryan (39).

B-grade: 1st Mark Prendergast (40 points); 2nd Bill Ramsay (40); 3rd Brendan Ryan (39).

C-grade: 1st Terry Cargill (44 points); 2nd Fletcher Kelly (41); 3rd Ken Rice (39).

Wednesday, October 27

Wednesday's stableford round included the final round of the Clarice Cheatley Brooch competition in which the seven finalists were playing in the field.

Bernie Smith was the brooch winner and also came in second in A-grade.

Josie Kirkman was ahead in A-grade with 39 points, while playing partner Mary Hawker turned in 40 points to win B-grade.

Elaine Roberts came out on top of a three-way countback to win C-grade.

A-grade: 1st Josie Kirkman (39); 2nd Bernie Smith (37 c/b); 3rd Margaret Peat (37).

B-grade: 1st Mary Hawker (40); 2nd Jessica Cox (39); 3rd Felicity Douglas (38).
