Rochester golf report
Rochester mixed pennant team once again came home 3/2 winners after Sunday's match against Belvoir Park at Bendigo's Neangar Park.
The winners were Karen Taylor 4/2, Bruce Bryant 3/2, Brendan McCarty two-up on the last, Barb McCarty lost, one down, and Lachie Wilson lost 3/2.
Players were greeted to a beautiful autumn Saturday, with the course in excellent condition. Good scores were expected, however playing par, any score square or better is welcomed.
Captain Darren White continued his excellent form to win +1, while new golfer Troy McInnes had his best round finishing square; Robert Vise -1 was the following best. Ball winners were Frank Severino, Leigh Hicks, Lachie Wilson, Ap Kuiper and we welcomed back Neil Coghill, all on -2. Bruce Bryant was the only nearest-the-pin winner for his second shot to the long third hole.
In cool but sunny conditions on Wednesday, a nice field of 20 competed in a single stableford round where partners were drawn after the game. Whether good luck or good management, organiser Richard Feuk drew Wayne Williams, and their combined score of 37 points over the front nine were the winners from the unlucky pairing of Frank Broucek and president Leigh Hicks on 36, while Kevin McCormack/Peter Anderson (34) and Rob Vise/Bruce Bryant (33) were the next best. A large cheer went up when Feuk's handicap finally came down by two shots after his win.
