Saturday, September 9:
Simon Locke had one of the scores of the year to win the monthly medal and B-grade easily.
Axyl Lewis was the closest chaser with a fine net 65 and Aaron Loader had a broke par to win the A-grade scratch. Horace Edwards is in form and won the B-grade scratch, breaking 80.
Dane Lowry edged out Noel Sholl for the C-grade net, with evergreen Jim Wagstaff winning the C-grade scratch. Billy Driscoll won his second super-pin this month.

Debbie Morden won the ladies star award for September, with Sharon Hepworth second and the marvel Fran Galvin finishing third. Karen Slater is pretty good on the par threes, winning the nearest-the-pin and Miranda Turner won the super-pin.

Sunday, September 10:
Captain Dave Pearson had a good day out on Sunday with 42 stableford points to win the medley competition.
He added to his win by also having a great shot to take the super-pin. Stojko Kresojevic also had a great shot to eagle the 15th.

Monday, September 11:
Lorraine Harrison had a net score of 33 in Monday’s nine-hole competition to win the September Stellar Award.
She is eligible to join the other monthly winners (and countbacks) in the final to be played on October 16.

Tuesday, September 12:
Trevor Thornhill had the score of the day to win A-grade, with Peter Anderson not far behind.
Chris Evans won the chocolates in B-grade from George Benham and the in-form Dave Watt. Ray Hunt took the C-grade honours.
Greens director Steve Jones found the greens to his liking, winning a nearest-the-pin and super-pin.

Wednesday, September 13:
There was a three-way countback to determine the winner of September’s monthly medal, with Janine Morgan winning the countback from Diane Watson and Marg Davison.
Janine also took top spot in B-grade. Diane’s 69 net gave her the A-grade win and Gabi Christians won the super-pin.
Congratulations were in order for Marcia Spiers and Nicole Horneman, who are members of the Goulburn Murray team to play in the Victorian Country Teams Competition from September 25 to 27 at Traralgon, Trafalgar and Yallourn courses.

Tuesday, September 5:
The ladies played a stableford round and it was lovely to have a visitor from Bamawm in the field.
Best on course and winner of the Giddings Co Player of the Day, with a solid score of 32 points, was Jenny Holt, who capped the day off nicely by also winning the nearest-the-pin on the 17th. Runner-up was Helen Hayes with 28.
Saturday, September 9:
The final of the Handicap Matchplay Championship was played on Saturday between in-form golfers Travis Mancer and Ash Portwine.
Ash parred the 3rd to take an early lead, but Trav won the 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th and 10th to surge to a four-up lead.
They shared the next six holes, as Ash won the 11th, 13th and 15th but Trav was up to the challenge and won the 12th and 14th with pars, sealing the title by winning the 16th.
He won the match four and two to win the 2023 Handicap Matchplay Champion title.
Saturday’s par round saw Grant Humbert best on course to win the Giddings Co Player of the Day voucher, as well as A-grade, with his score of +3, on a countback from Kevin Humbert.
After losing B-grade on a countback more than once in recent weeks, Ray Brereton finally had a win, with his round square with the card.
C-grade honours went to Brad Wakefield (-1).

The eagle’s nest on the 3rd hadn’t been won all season until Saturday when Ash Portwine had a ripper of a shot to finish within the flagstick and win the 12 balls.
Captain Bricka’s yardstick on the 7th wasn’t won, however, and jackpots to $110 for next week.
Congratulations to Simon Portwine, Kevin Humbert and Grant Humbert, who combined well to win the scratch event at Rochester’s three-person ambrose event on Friday.

Bamawm Golf Club
It was a beautiful day on course on Sunday for our final stableford round for the year and the match play final between Jeff Carnie and Kieran McAsey.
The final was quite the tussle, with Kieran and Jeff tied after 18 holes. Kieran was the eventual winner after an extra 4 holes.
Winner of the ladies was Kathy Connors with a fabulous score of 38 stableford points, with Jackie Newth runner-up.
Winner of the men’s competition was Neville Vicary with a fantastic score of 39 points. Runner-up with 37 points was Kieran McAsey.

Rochester Golf Club
Considering the poor weather last Friday there was a great turnout for our annual Tradies Day sponsored by Rochester Mitre 10. Seventeen teams played a three-person ambrose event off the short-course markers.
Scratch winners were the father-and-son team of Kevin and Grant Humbert with Simon Portwine, carding a seven-under 64. Jake Wright, Sean Williams, Sarah Leask and Morgan Dingwall had the best net score on 66 (54-3/4) from Grant Fuller, Joel Waters and Nic Palmer (60-3/6). Other good scores were recorded by the following teams of Chris White, Lee Hicks and Trav Windridge (61-3/6), Neil Coghill, Kath and Fletcher Kelly (61-5/6).
Non-handicap winners were Michael and Kane Moroney and Hamish Hooppell. The following were nearest-the-pin winners: (ladies) 5th Karen Adamson and Kath Kelly on 12; David Gebbie was the men’s winner on 16. Straight drives were Karen Adamson and Joel Waters, long drive went to Morgan Dingwall and Shane Bywarters, while Fletcher Kelly cleaned up on the 3rd money hole.
Saturday was the stroke Monthly Medal on the white short course. Once again Troy McInness showed his potential with a great score of 91-27-64. Neil Coghill was runner-up. Neil Coghill 85 (68), Peter Anderson and Ian Pollard both with net 69, Robert Vise (70), Ap Kuiper (72) and Laurie Radley (73). Lee Hicks (3), 2nd shot to 9 Darren White and 2nd shot to 18 Neil Coghill were the nearest-the-pin winners.
The club’s Matchplay Doubles finals were played over 18 holes and new member Brett Young combined with Neil Coghill to defeat Darren White and partner Laurie Radley 3/1.
Wednesday nine-hole social golf was a three-person ambrose (scramble version) over the front nine. After an extensive countback Richard Feuk, David Gebbie and Laurie Radley 37 - 4-5/6 - 32-1/6 were declared the winners from the unlucky team of Kevin McCormack, Robert Vise and Shane Bywaters 34 - 1-5/6 - 32-1/6.
Important dates to remember over the next few weeks are: Men’s and Ladies Open Championship over 18 holes on Sunday, September 17, the Annual Charity Four Person Ambrose (any combination) event on Friday, September 29. Major sponsors Rochester Sportspower and Razor Roofing. Major works will be carried out on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, September 26, 27 and 28. For safety reasons, the course will be closed over those three days.
