Stewie Mancer got to five up on the front nine before the handbrake came on to protect his handicap for the Tocumwal Ambrose event on the weekend — not something a former handicap manager should do. Noel Dixon continued his good form to win B-grade and Jack Hammond from Cobden had the score of the day to win C-grade.

Saturday, February 5:
Sean Burns shot under par to score 45 points and win the Privilege Cup – a great round. Travis Clack’s effort was not far behind, shooting par after an 18-month lay-off. Crackers Craig Maconachie would have loved putting John Clancy and Tony Fusti into the minor placings in B-grade and Nick Sheldon edged out Peter Hyden in C-grade. Good luck to Pete, who is playing at the Vic Open at 13th Beach next weekend in the wheelchair event.

Monday, February 7:
The nine-hole Monday competition on the West course saw 55 women take part and some great nine-hole scores were recorded. Nice to see Marg Sharp back and in form to take out A-grade with 22 stableford points on a countback to Carolyn Smith in second place, while a countback was needed to separate first, second and third places in B-grade, Fran Murphy emerging the winner with 20 points.
A-grade: Marg Sharp (22 c/b), 1. Carolyn Smith (22), 2. Elizabeth Connick (20), 3.

Wednesday, February 9:
The skies looked ominous early on Wednesday but rain stayed away and 128 women took to the West course to play a teams-of-four event, Texas Ambrose, to celebrate the opening day of the 2022 season, with countbacks needed to separate the top three teams.
The winning team, with a score of 99, was Karen Slater, Debbie Schwarz, Jo Radford and Carmel Devlin.
In second place, also with 99, were Judi Lawler, Jo Queyle, Kris Briggs and Leanne Cregan.
They were followed in third place on 99 by Tracey Burton, Julie Rowbottom, Alison McKiterick and Marg Peat.
Nearest-the-pins: On the fourth: Colleen Armstrong, Alison McKiterick and Nelliette Read; and on the eighth: Marion Whatley, Carolyn Smith and Julie Rowbottom.
The super-pin went to Joyce Moresi.
There were also two novelty prizes requiring golfers to drive close to a "wiggly" line on either the first or 18th fairways. Marion Whatley was spot on on the 18th and Lucille George was only centimetres away from the line on the first.
