Echuca Bowls Club
Grey nomads going on their yearly jaunts and a very cold, gusty day was believed to be the reason for a reduced field of 14 teams to play Thursday men’s pairs.

With the threat of heavy showers, it was decided to play through rather than stopping for the usual cuppa after the first game.
There were only two teams winning both games.
John Blair and Ian Page were declared runners-up with a score of 2+9.
Winners on the day were the consistent Tongala team of Leigh Polkinghorne and John Riedell with a score of 2+18.
Best one game winners, following a count back, were Doug Goldsworthy and Mike Redapple with a score of +12.
Following the jackpot disc of +30 being pulled out, and there being no winner, the jackpot increases to $40 next week.
Thanks to Bernie John’s and Paul Leach for their help in organising the day.
Friday was also very cold, and eight players braved the weather to try their luck in our scroungers challenge.
Kindly sponsored by Echuca Workers Club, Andrew Humphreys was declared runner-up on the day.
On his first day back on the greens after a serious medical incident in Queensland, which saw him in hospital for several weeks, the incorrigible Ivan Hicks again took out the winners prize.
Saturday saw a slight improvement in the weather, 14 players attended for social bowls, which allowed for three games of pairs and one pair playing singles.
Only one team won their three games, that being Bernie John’s and Ricky Phyland, who won with a 3+10.
Runners-up on the day were Max Bennett and Mike Redapple scoring 2+10.
Winner of the singles game was Rhonda Gallagher.
Both Friday scroungers and Saturday social bowls continue to gain in popularity, and members are encouraged to put their names down on the sheets each week.
On Friday, July 25, members and guests are invited to share a drink with Jade Bennett, our greenskeeper, who is leaving us at the end of the month.
Entry sheets are now on the clubhouse notice boards for upcoming tournaments.
Place your names down to avoid disappointment.

Lockington Bowls Club
Well, the wintry weather has really set in and is not conducive to a pleasant afternoon on the bowling greens.
However, the hardy souls that are adventurous and outgoing will grab the opportunity with open hands.
On Wednesday, the field was a low number with Russell Shawcross in brilliant form to amass a huge tally of 71 points with daylight next best.
Lorraine Appleby 38 and Shane Felmingham 31 tried valiantly to bridge the gap.
Next door Pos Andrea scored another win after scoring 42 points to keep Steve Peter at bay on 39 points.
Saturday provided a much better day for bowls and more bowlers on the green.
Once again, Pos Andrea was at the fore, tallying a solid 50 points ahead of Lorraine Appleby 31 and John Andrea 30.
Neil Haines was next best.
On rink two, Steve Pavone led the field home, scoring 55 points to win the rink from Steve Peter 48 and Frank Chugg 42.
On the final rink, Denise Gilmore was near unstoppable after amassing 52 points to win from Russell Shawcross 45 points.
Club members offer sincere condolences to Graeme Hyden on the recent sad loss of his wife Lynette.
Condolences to all of the Hyden and Hamilton families, a special lady.
A reminder to all members to list their intention to compete in the forthcoming 2025-26 pennant season.

Vise finished with 21 points, with Chris Eeles, Peter Anderson and Kevin McCormack all on 20 Stableford points.
Eeles won on a countback and was also closest to the 12th pin, while Shane Connelly was closest to the 16th.

In cool and overcast conditions, the men's first round of the club championship was held last Saturday with a good field of 26 players.
New member Corey Windridge has been showing great promise since playing regularly this season, and that ability saw him win his first individual event for the year.
Windridge’s 92 off the stick for a net 67 was just enough to beat Jake Wright, who shot one under par 70 net 68.
Grant Robinson had his best round and broke 90 for the first time his 86, followed by Robert Ralph and Brent Sweeney, who also had his best round this year, all with net 69, were the ball winners on the day.

B-grade is always the most interesting and harder to win.
Grant Robinson and Murray Schier both sit on 86 with veteran Peter Anderson and Shane Connelly one shot back and Brendan McCarty on 89.
Can Corey Windridge continue his good form, as he leads C-grade on 92 from Graham Willis 97 and new member Peter Mulcahy 98.
