Special thanks to Joan Dovaston, who filled in on the day.
Conditions were reasonable, provided you had your winter woollies on.
Unfortunately, the organisers inadvertently forgot to complete the diary, so the writer is very short on details.
In attendance were visitors from Mathoura and Tongala.
The best one game on the day went to Toby Egan and Noel McMaster with a +13.
Runners-up were Geoff Tinning and “novice” bowler Peter Kesson with a 2, +9.

Congratulations to all bowlers, and sincere apologies to any other two-game winners I have failed to mention.
The jackpot failed to go off, so this week it stands at $60.
Due to insufficient entries, Friday Scroungers were cancelled, but will hopefully return this week.
Saturday saw 20 players return to the greens, playing 3-game pairs.
After some very strong opposition, in blustery conditions, the eventual winners were Jim Ferrier and Erica Mostert with a 2, +17, winning Pastoral Inn Hotel vouchers, our long-time sponsors.
Runners-up on the day were Kristy Gillingham and Robert Height, who walked away with vouchers from our other sponsors, Echuca Workers Club.
Any bowler looking for a great time is advised to put their names down for the Saturday competition.
A reminder that on Friday, August 1, we’ll be saying goodbye to Jade Bennett at our drinks and nibbles, 4-6pm. All welcome.
At our recent board meeting, it was decided to invite established bowlers or new residents to join our club by issuing the following statement.

Lockington Bowls Club
Good numbers have been the order of the day for the respective games of scrounge on both Wednesday and Saturday.
Last Wednesday, four rinks were in use, and some excellent bowling was witnessed.
On rink one, Steve Pavone collected the spoils, amassing 59 points ahead of club president John van den Bosch on a solid 46 points.
Next door, Bruce Haines (Echuca) tallied 58 points, with Lorraine Appleby and Pos Andrea locked on 40 points each.
On rink three, Phillip Cunnington led the field with a total 59 points while Ray Hanson was not far away on 45 points.
Terrill Westwood was third with 28.
The final rink was closely fought out with Shane Felmingham winning the chocolates on 55 points by the slightest of margins from John Andrea on 53.
Rod Fiedler chimed in with 30 points.
Saturday brought plenty of sunshine but was almost countered by the gale force wind.
Another fine roll up, with five rinks in operation and the overall scoring was close across all rinks.
Rink one was mastered by Pos Andrea, scoring 54 points to edge out Cindy Felmingham 45 and Lorraine Appleby 39.
Rink two provided some outstanding bowling from all three bowlers.
Phillip Cunnington 47 while visitors Keith Wood 47 points and Ivy (Polly) Pollock managed 45 points in a nightmare for the adjudicator, with Cunnington and Wood being unable to be separated.
Runnymede visitor Ashley Dobell dominated the third rink after scoring 53 points and finished ahead of Russell Shawcross nearby on 51 points, while John Andrea brought up the tail on 35.
John van den Bosch was once again in the winners circle annexing the rink, tallying 55 points and scored narrowly from John Fisher two points shy on 53.
John Andrea had a gallant 35 points.
The final rink belonged to Mel Freeman, carding a match-winning 63 points ahead of Shane Felmingham 42 and Neil Haines 35.
Bowlers enjoyed the wonderful hot party pies and sausage rolls courtesy of Pos Andrea. Makes the day worthwhile.
Club members are mourning the loss of past member Brian Watts.
Watts played bowls at Lockington for several years and was an active club member.

WRDGA Pennant
The grudge match between the two Rich River scratch pennant teams saw the number one team win as expected, but not without a fright.
Three matches were halved, and Reece Thompson and D’Arcy Whyte had wins to get them over the line, 3.5 matches to 1.5.
With two rounds to go, the teams are one and two on the ladder, so both have a big chance of making it to the grand final at Murray Downs.
The Division two handicap team had a narrow four matches to three loss to Deniliquin, with Solie Welch, Sean Burns Sue Byrne winning their matches.
This leaves the team in fourth place with work to do to make the grand final.
Goulburn Valley Veteran Golfers
Monday, July 21, saw 81 members and guests contest a 4BBB event at Shepparton Golf Club, a social initiative of our “young vets” to recognise our great sponsors who kindly support us throughout the year.
It was a beautiful winters day with the temperature moving from 10°C to 16°C during the day, with a fairly constant breeze of about 20 km/hr.
The Shepparton Golf Club again proved excellent hosts, with hot bread rolls and a choice of hot soups at the conclusion of play.
Presentations were ably conducted by Ron Wilkinson as a sub for president Bill Chilcott who is enjoying warmer climes.
Best score was posted by Philip Deane (Murchison) and Philip Jarvis (Seymour) with a combined total of 42 stableford points.
A count back was required to separate several teams on 41 pts, and the Deniliquin pair of Neil Boswell and Wayne Pitts emerged victorious.
Nearest-the-pin, contested on the short 12th Hole in A, B and C-grade (0-16, 17-22, 23+ respectively), saw Garry Reece (Mooroopna), Stephen Piggott (Cobram) and Gary Eden (Merrigum) claim the prizes.
Down the line balls were awarded to Stephen Pigott (Cobram) and Dennis Andrews (Benalla); Gerald Pennefather and Nick Traianidis (Shepparton team); Michael Gallivan (Valley View) and Kelly Cheong (Rushworth); Peter Oddy and Greg Collins (Deniliquin team); Laurie Radley (Rochester) and Lindsay Tatterson (Parklands); and Ron Wilkinson and Bob Dixon (Shepparton team).
The GVVGA secretary has received entries for two teams (each of three players) to send to Portland in September for the VVGA Teams event.
We are able to nominate three teams, so there is still an opportunity to get a team together before our next event in August.
Our next event is at Valley View Golf Club on Monday, August 4, assembly at 9.30 for a 10am tee.
Rochester Golf Club
Wednesday 9-hole organizer Richard Feuk likes to vary the events each week.
This week, there was a drawing for a mystery partner for a aggregate score to determine the winners.
Feuk was lucky to draw John Oakley as he had his best Stableford score for the season with 23 points, and combined with Feuk's 21, their 44 won the day from Bruce Bryant and Darren White's total 40 points.
Next best were the team of David Gebbie and Des Hocking (39).
Chris Eeles (3rd) and Robert Vise (8th) were the nearest the pin winners.
Marg Knight was the winner in last Friday's stroke round with 98-25-73, just pipping Leisa Evans with 94 net 74. Evans was also the closest to the short 12th.
Louise Williams once again had two nearest the pins, this time 3 and 16.
Barb McCarty on 5 and 8 was the other nearest the pin winner.
Friday was also the second round of the Ladies Club Championship.
Current champion Louise Williams is well ahead of her nearest rival Julie Leahy, however, Leahy is just ahead of McCarty by one shot in the overall net section.
A field of 29 men played the second round of the club championships on Saturday.
The day's event was won by young Zac McInnes after his disappointing first round with his great score of 86-18-68.
The following were all ball winners: Bruce Major net 70, Brent Sweeney, David Gebbie, Troy McInnes, Shane Bywaters and Murray Schier (71).
Nearest the pin winners were (3) Shane Connelly, (5) Peter Anderson, (16) Grant Robinson and on 18 for his 2nd shot, Jake Wright.
Jake Wright's lead in A-grade is now back to two shots as he struggled to retain his good form from last week.
Shane Bywater's is next best on 150 with Robert Ralph a distant third, the only other likely to feature in the overall net results.
Murray Schier is leading B-grade for a total of 171 after Grant Robinson fell away, and next best is Peter Anderson 174 and Shane Connelly at 175.
Corey Windridge improved his lead in C-grade as his total of 184 looks certain to take out his first major trophy.
Bruce Bryant and Graham Willis will be battling out for the net C-grade award.
The semifinal in the doubles matchplay was also played on Saturday, with Shane Connelly and Grant Robinson winning 3/2 against Richard Feuk and Laurie Radley.
