At the completion of the day’s play there were seven two-game winners starting with Kevin McGreevy/Col Berryman (+8), Greg Clymo/Jim Harris (+8), Lal Whyte/John Blair (+9), Max Bennett/Steve Clydesdale (+12), Peter Kesson/Geoff Tinning (+17), runners-up Ivan Hicks/Ashley French (+22) and the winners Trevor Rickard/Max Clifford (+37).
Best one game went to Kesson and Tinning with (+15).
Friday Scroungers sponsored by Echuca Intersport, attracted 14 bowlers with June Clifford taking home the chocolates from Ross Young.
The last round of Weekend Pennant saw Division One travel to Rochester where they were pushed all the way, losing two of the three rinks but, thanks to a huge win by Ian Page (s), Stan Barker, Ivan Hicks and Evan Berryman (38-9), managed to get home (78/52) to finish on top of the ladder and will meet Moama at Lockington on Saturday.
Division Two had the bye and finished third.
They will play Rich River, also at Lockington in a cutthroat semifinal.
Division Three also travelled to Rochester, winning (63-45) with all rinks up after being pushed all the way.
Best performance went to Trevor Rickard (s), Max Clifford, Neil Dovaston and Ken Main (23-15).
They finished third and will host Lockington in an elimination final.
Division 4 defeated Rochester at home (64-61) to finish third and will play Deniliquin RSL at home, also in a cutthroat semifinal.
Best rink was Max Bennett (s), Paul Leach, Steve Campion and Col Berryman (21-13).
Unfortunately, both Division Five sides went down and finished outside the final four.
Blue lost to Lockington at home by one shot (36-37) to finish sixth with Dennis Smith (s), Dick North, Sue Edwards and Erica Mostert the best, winning (22-14).
White lost to Rochester away by eight shots (32-40) to finish fifth with Kevin Bursill (s), Lisa Humphrys, Linda Ormando and Laurie Quinn the best, winning (20-16).
Monday night’s Pastoral Hotel sponsored social bowls was enjoyed by the 16 attendees in perfect conditions.
Two competitions were conducted with Daniel Vella, Mark Bainbridge and Shona Armstrong (Rockhampton QLD) winning the triples while Lorelle Opthoog and Kim Bainbridge took home the Intersport vouchers for winning the pairs.
Lockington’s twilight fours tournament last week was won by Philip Thorn, Pat Schram, Chris Campbell and Rhonda Gallagher, while the runners up were an Echuca/Moulamein team of Dennis Compton, Belinda Chong, Ray and Roza Armstrong. Well done all.
Congratulations to Roma Opie, who plays weekend pennant for Cohuna bowls club in the Northern District competition, on winning their Champion of Champions last week.
Mini Bingo ($4000) didn’t go off again last Friday.
John Exton won the members draw but was not present so it jackpots to $70 tonight at drinks and nibbles between 4 and 6pm.
Moama RSL
Indoor Bowls- Monday, February 16
20 players played three games of nine ends.
The winners on 43.5 points were Peter Broom (Skip), Janine Wolfe (3rd) and Sue Underwood (Lead).
The runners-up with 32.5 points were Carole Glass (Skip), Dulcie Vanderdrift (3rd) and Liz Portwine (Lead).
Third place with 32 points were John Leery (Skip), Judy Vise (3rd), Mary Kaine (2nd) and Margaret Meulenkamp (Lead).
New members are welcome.

Social Bowls
Bowlers were again faced with windy conditions on Friday, February 13.
The winners for the day were Carol Cakebread and Bev Hetherington, who won both of their games.
Jackpot bowls will be back next Friday, February 20 at 10am, please ring the office between 8.45-9.15am to enter your name.

Classic Fours
This tournament was on Sunday – good bowling to those who entered the competition and a massive shout out to everyone who put their hand up to run the tournament.
These tournaments are vital to our club and certainly don’t just happen.
Wind Sock: Have you missed it? It’s been replaced – thanks to Des Hocking and Alan Williams for doing so.
Lucky Lotto is back and will commence once the board is filled.

60 and over
The winning team over at Kyabram on Wednesay February 11 was Ivan Hicks’ team from Echuca, with five in the yardstick.
Runners up were John van Den Bosch’s team from Lockington with four in the yardstick.
Anton Gusak’s team from Rochester had three wins for the day but only managed to get three in the yardstick – sadly, no chooks came home.
This Wednesday, February 18 the play will be here in Rochester with a 10am start.
The following Wednesday, February 25, play is back in Rochester again for a Group Day.
On this particular day, half of the fee paid for entry goes to the 60 and over competition to cover the cost of running the weekly competition.
All clubs who participate in the competition have three games at home for the season, with Group Day being an extra day.

Lockington Bowls Club
Plenty of activity on the greens at Lockington during the past week.
On Tuesday evening a quality field attended the popular Barefoot bowls.
At the completion of the two games of six ends, 2x4x2, there was only one two game winner.
The star-studded pair comprised Peter Eade and Rod Fiedler, two wins +4 shots, ahead of John Dowie and Jason King, one win and one loss +9 shots.
The club thanked Cindy Felmingham, Leanne McInnes, Kim Ray, and Phillip Cunngton for their continued effort.
The annual Twilight Mixed Fours tournament was held on Thursday evening, attracting some 96 bowlers for the competition across 24 teams.
Clubs represented included Cohuna, Echuca, Elmore, Golden Square, Gunbower, Kerang, Kyabram, Moulamein, Pyramid Hill, Rich River, Rochester, Rushworth, and Lockington.
The tournament was generously sponsored by Tobin Brothers - Echuca, with supporting sponsors Rochester Veterinary Practice, Peat Partners - Echuca, and Norlec Electrical - Lockington.
The club thanked the sponsors amid a spontaneous applause from all in attendance.
On the night there remained only two teams undefeated.
The tournament winners were decided on Points and Shots Up.
The Gold Medal went to the Echuca rink comprising Rhonda Gallagher, Chris Campbell, Pat Schram, Phillip Thorn (s) on 77 points from Runners Up Rosa Armstrong, Ray Armstrong, Joyce Cheong, Dennis Compton (s) from Moulamein with 75 points.
Best Last Game winners were Denise Gilmore, Rhonda Ballard, Ian Howard, Brian Kinnan (s) Cohuna - Lockington.
The special competition winners were N. Haines, D. Compton, Rhonda Woodcock, R. Shawcross, R. Clayton, I. Hicks, M. Freeman, P. MacFarlane, and Max Williams.
The final round of the Campaspe Area Weekend Pennant was played on Saturday with all divisions winning.
The overall results showed that Division Three and Five retained their positions in the final four in the respective divisions.
Division Three journeyed to Tongala and returned home with two and a half wins in the 63-41 victory (Steve Pavone def P. Cooper 21-12, John Fisher def M. Weardon 28-15, Kim Ray drew B. Tinning 14-all).
Division Four also played at Tongala and scored a 78-51 victory and all rinks up (Dave Thomas def W. Andrews 24-20, Cindy Felmingham def D. Read 22-19, Steve Peter def J. Read 32-12).
Division Five withstood a gallant challenge from Echuca Blue at Echuca and won another heart stopping victory 37-36 with a finals bid at stake (Rod Fiedler def G. Johnston 27-13, Kalvan Stout lost to D. Smith 14-22 but picked up a valuable four shots on the 19th end).
The semi-finals next Saturday are played at the following venues.
Division One and Two play at Lockington while Divisions Three, Four, and Five are to meet at Echuca Bowling Club.

In the Midweek Pennant final round, Division Three defeated Rochester 52-24 but unfortunately finished in sixth position on the ladder (Phylis MacFarlane def H. Wilson 34-10; John Fisher def J. Murray 18-14).
Division Four kept up the winning flavour in defeating Tongala 54-30 with both rinks up (Shane Felmingham def G. Tinning 27-13; Cindy Felmingham def P. Cooper 27-17).
The teams retained top position on the ladder and will play in the second semi-final on Tuesday, February 24.
The club held a Sponsors Night last week and a large gathering were present to acknowledge the fabulous support we have been able to gain to assist our club to keep operating in a viable manner.

The club has members playing in the B.C.G. Regional Novice Singles at Marong on Sunday.
Apparently all players survived the first round.

60 and over
The Campaspe 60 and Over Bowls Group held their Wednesday weekly bowls at Rochester on a mild but pleasant day.
26 teams consisting of 104 bowlers, all competing for a chook.
There were seven three game winners.
The runners up were Howard Tonkin’s team from Kyabram, which had four bowls near the jack within the metre stick.
The Kyabram team was lead Howard Tonkin, John McPhadden second, Maurice Hately third, and the skipper was Phil Denham.
The winners on the day were Kelvin Stout’s team from Lockington, which had five bowls near the jack.
Jim Harris was lead, John Andraea second, Owen McPhee third, and Kalvan Stout was the skipper.
Members of both teams received a chook each.
The next 60 and over Bowls is back at Rochester on February 25 at 10am.

Echuca Moama Croquet Club
Friday, February 13
14 members turned up to play, with Glenda Kelly the winner on three games +7.
Jenny van der Zande got the only Jump shot for the day.
Monday, February 16
What a beautiful morning to play croquet.
13 members came to play and the winner was Sandy Alstin with 3, + 6 followed very closely by Russell Clarke with 3, + 5.
Jump shots were the shot of the day with one each to Sandy, Shaz, and Lyn and two for Jill.
Thanks to the members who come early to help set up.

Golf Croquet –Tuesday, February 17
After months of waiting and playing croquet on half courts, 19 players turned up for an 8am start to enjoy playing croquet on the new courts.
The greens look fabulous and we thank the Rich River Golf Club, the landscape gardening crew and Rich River Croquet Club members that all contributed to the renovation of the four courts.
Three players won all three games; Russell Clark, Kevin Harrison and Bob Barclay.
