There was no Monday social bowls because of the public holiday.
The midweek grand final on Tuesday was played at Rich River in ideal conditions, but our division one team, which finished second after the home and away games, went down to the powerful Moama team 45-70.

There will be one less number to pick from tonight (Friday) at drinks and nibbles between 4 and 6pm.
Members draw was won by Rob Height who missed out on $50 as he was not present. Jackpots to $60 tonight.

Midweek Pennant Finals
Unfortunately, the scheduled preliminary finals that were to be hosted by Rochester Bowls Club, had to be transferred to the Moama Bowling Club last Tuesday, March 3, due to the significant amount of rain that we received in the days prior to this.
We are extremely grateful to the Moama Bowling Club who have donated the greens fees collected on the day, back to the Rochester Bowls Club.
This is a very generous and welcome gesture.
The grand final will be played on March 10 at Rich River Bowls Club.

Lockington Bowls Club
The club is recovering from the drenching rain of last week.
The end result was no barefoot bowls last Tuesday, making it two in a row.
However, this week is on for the final game of the current series with a possible return in October 2026.
The major highlight of the week was the fantastic effort from our club member Cindy Felminghaim in winning the BCG Regional State Novice Singles played at Eaglehawk Bowling Club on Sunday.
Pitted against Kim Kavanagh in the final, both bowlers were looked together in the early stanza with Kavanagh leading 7-6.
Both bowlers traded ends before Felmingham picked up a four to gain a slender lead before winning consecutive ends to win the final 21-15.
Both bowlers were applauded as they left the green.
For Cindy Felmingham it was a dream come true after being defeated last year in the final by Mackenzie Parsons from the Moama Bowling Club.
On the way to victory, Felmingham defeated E. Wilson 22-18, M. Edwards 21-3, and E. Mostert 22-20 in the early rounds.
Congratulations to Cindy.
The division four midweek teams will be playing in the Campaspe Area grand final on Tuesday at the Rich River Bowling Club after finishing the season in top position before defeating Stanhope in the second semi-final 36-34. Good bowling.
Club competitions are almost completed, with several matches played on Sunday.
Kim Ray and Natalie McLaughlin met in the quarter-final of the women's B-grade championship.
McLaughlin led 10-5 after eight ends before her opponent displayed some excellent draw bowling to apply significant pressure and lead 18-10 on thirteen ends.
Ray was in a determined mood and closed out the game to win 25-11 and gain a place in the semi-final.
A couple of games in the men's 100-Up championship were completed with some extraordinary bowling on show.
In the game between Ray Hanson and Ashley Dobell, the large crowd were enthralled at the spectacle of close heads and brilliant bowling from both contenders.
Both players had little separating on the scoreline as Hanson held an eight shot lead after 11 ends.
Dobell was drawing the jack on a regular basis and made a comeback to even up the match.
In the closing ends the pressure was great, and the end result favoured Ashley Dobell requiring three shots while his opponent needed five shots to win the game.
Dobell won the game 100-99.
Steve Pavone defeated Neil Haines in a round of the 100-Up with a display of sheer brilliance as he only gave away three ends of the contest and won 100-64.
Haines battled on as the margin grew larger.
The annual presentation night will be held on Sunday, April 12 commencing at 6pm.
Members are required to list their names on the sheet at the clubhouse.
On Wednesday, March 25 the women will hold the annual medley fours tournament.

Goulburn Valley Veteran Golfers
The rain came down on March 2 and 3 and caused the postponement of the annual challenge between the Goulburn Valley Veteran Golfers Association and Central District for the Tom Downie Shield.
We are most grateful to the Bendigo Golf Club for hosting the event on March 9, the Monday of the long weekend, despite the problems faced by flooding of the ground floor of the clubhouse and pro-shop.
Our hosts presented the course in excellent condition, and the weather was perfect for golf ranging from 21 to 26°C with a consistent light breeze at about 15 km/hr.
Leading the field for Goulburn Valley on a four-player countback with 35 points were Frank Broucek, Bowen, Qld; Ian Hannaford, Numurkah; Robert Smith, Parkland; Phil Steers, Shepparton,
A ball rundown from 34 to 33 pts included: Neil Boswell, Deniliquin; Mal Inglis, Strathbogie; John Keller, Hill Top; Graeme Crosbie, Mooroopna; John Mortimer, Shepparton; Rolf Weber, Mooroopna; Geoff Corboy Deniliquin; Jim Dean, Kialla; Michael Gallivan, Valley View; and John Radeski, Deniliquin.
Central District’s leading scores were recorded by Ian Coates, 40 pts; Joy Kelly, 40; Tony Olsson, 39; and Leslie Pocock, 39.
The ball rundown from 38 to 33 pts included: Richard Gay; David Holmes; Brian Jenner; Garry Moore; Rob Sutton; Lindsay Kramer; Domenic Pompei; Vin Walsh; Geoff Cook; Billy Drummond; Michael Hockley; Charles Kelly; and Ern Kraulis.
Because of the depleted numbers in the GV team the championship this year was decided on the aggregate of the best 30 stableford scores from each team.
Central compiled 1017 points, well up on the GV total of 934.
This has proved a very even contest over the years with CD now leading with nine wins to seven, with one drawn result.
Nearest-the-pin was contested on four holes: Phil Steers, GV, 173m 5th; Lindsay Kramer, CD, claimed two prizes, 139m 12th and 124m 17th; and Danny Curran, CD was nearest second shot on the 281m 14th.
Our next regular event is at Euroa Golf Club on Monday, March 16, 9.30am assembly for 10am tee.

The social day was very successful with 45 players entering the competition and travelling from the Shepparton, Deniliquin, Echuca/Moama, Swan Hill, Mooroopna, Rich River, Mildura, Cobram and Numurkah.
The weather was fine and sunny with the day heating up as play went on.

11 players won three of their four matches, and it was the fourth game round that decided who the winner was.
Congratulations to Diane Watson from Shepparton who was the winner, she was the only player to win all four games, scoring four games +33 hoops.
Thanks goes to the workers who set up the courts, the catering team, the tournament organisers, the club members who did the raffle, scoring, adjudicating when necessary, and a big thank you to the participants who came to play and watch the many matches during the day.
