The young striker-winger from Echuca is bound for Vigo in Spain this September to take part in a three-month program at La Liga club Celta de Vigo.
Dos Santos successfully trialled in Melbourne recently to earn his spot, and the former Moama-Echuca player-turned-Shepparton talent is expecting an entirely different brand of the game.
“It will be pretty different soccer from Australia,” he said.
“It will bring my ball game a bit higher hopefully. I’m looking forward to just trying new things, getting better at the game and trying to evolve from where I am now.”
Dos Santos picked up the sport three years ago, beginning his career with the Border Raiders before making the move across to Shepparton for the 2023 CVL season.
“My Dad’s Brazilian so it came from his side, he started teaching me as a kid,” he said.
“I started at Moama and played there for two seasons. This season I’m at Shepparton which has been a bit different from Moama.”
A member of the Elite Football Academy, the Echuca College student will have the chance to hone his craft and potentially play division one football for the Spanish club.
The young gun has been helped by a grant from Campaspe Shire to assist him on his way to Spain as he aims to take the next step in his football journey.
